I really enjoyed Halloween this year! I think that is mostly because we had a lot of fun things going on, and Hyrum was old enough to understand the activities and be excited about then.
We were all cowboys this year, but Hyrum called his costume a “Woody” costume. He liked to wear it, I think.
This was before our big Halloween party a couple weeks ago (pre-hem):
I made Ryan and I belt buckles, and you can’t tell in the picture, but I even made designs on them, including our names :) They’re just aluminum foil wrapped around cardboard with rubber bands taped on the back. Not super cute or anything, but easy and free :)
Getting ready for the party!
Here we all are:
For this Halloween party (mostly a ward thing), I was in charge of the games. We had a cupcake walk, which I made some pretty fun cupcakes for:
This isn’t even all of them! (I made over 70)
Here are a lot of the games set-up before game time. I made the signs and rules, brought the jack-o-lantern bean bag toss, cupcake walk, coloring, and set-up all the games. There was the bean bag toss, the basketball game, a ring toss, the cupcake walk, coloring, and a doughnut on a string game. It was a crazy week of preparation, let me tell you.
I didn’t count or get a picture (I was way busy during game time), but there were at least 50 kids that did the games- since that’s about how many cupcakes were gone by the end and I didn’t let the kids get two. And not every kid did the cupcake walk! I’ll just tell you, it was packed in there. Ryan also helped me a TON- thanks babe! It was a lot of work, but fun too.
Here’s Hyrum (all hemmed) before our ward “blanket or treat.” He’s the cutest little cowboy!
We were a little late carving our pumpkin this year, but it turns out that was for the best because a lot of pumpkins pretty much melted in the heat last week. Hyrum actually helped this year! Although he wouldn’t touch the pumpkin’s insides because he thought they were gross.
Hyrum picked the pattern too:
Yesterday we had our traditional jack-o-lantern pizza for dinner before trick-or-treating:
Hyrum and I went trick-or-treating with some friends while Ryan stayed home and gave out candy (between the blanket or treat and last night, we gave out nearly 12 pounds of candy). Oh, and Ryan was writing a paper for a research conference- but that’s a different story.
Hyrum loved riding in the wagon between houses with his friend. It was funny though, he wouldn’t put his hat on till we walked up to the house. He really loved trick-or-treating!
Here’s his loot (aka, way too much candy):
Hyrum isn’t really a candy eater, so I thought putting his candy away would be no problem, but apparently I was wrong. He has been staying near his pail all morning, pulling different things out for me to open.
Here’s the evidence of how he’s enjoying his Halloween candy:
I hope you all had a Happy Halloween! We sure had a good time here!
