Whoa, May seriously flew by. I feel like we hardly had a May (we were gone for the last two weeks of it, so that may be part of it)!
Reading with Grandma Martin:
Hyrum consistently mixes up the word “energy” with the word “exercise,” so he’ll say things like, “I don’t have enough exercise to do that” and he’ll go sit on the couch.
Hyrum had a lip-licking problem this month, so much so that he got seriously chapped around his mouth. Thankfully, our vacation seemed to distract him enough to stop that habit.
Hyrum is very competitive, and we use that trait to get him to do things quicker (like getting dressed or going to the bathroom). After bath time, we say, “Who is going to get dressed first? Hyrum or Cora?” and he runs to get himself dressed. One night, Hyrum was getting his pajamas on super fast and said “I’m gonna beat you! I’m a beater McBeaterson!”
Any other child Hyrum sees is automatically a friend in his mind. That is what he calls them- “look, there’s my friend!” even if it’s a kid he’s never seen before in his life. I hope he keeps that perspective about the children around him as he gets older.
Hyrum had his last soccer game! He was a little wishy-washy with whether he liked it or not, depending on the day, but he still talks about it all the time, so I think we’ll try it again next year.
Cora has more teeth than two, finally! I think she has around eight now.
Cora learned to get herself standing this month, but still doesn’t walk much, so she’ll get herself standing in the middle of the room, then kind of waver and eventually sit down because she doesn’t know what else to do, lol. She is taking more and more steps of her own choice lately though, so I hope she will be full-time walking soon.
First time trying pigtails on Cora:
Cora has learned to fold her arms for prayer (she pretty much clasps her hands). So cute!
Cora has discovered coloring! She likes it for a few minutes, at least:
I had a wonderful Mother’s Day, with Ryan and Hyrum making me breakfast (French toast with Nutella), flowers, a gift card to Hobby Lobby with a promise for a craft day, and a dinosaur Hyrum built for me during his quiet time:
I love these children SOOOOO much, and am grateful every day that Heavenly Father sent them to me. There truly is nothing as amazing and challenging and worth it for me than to be their mother, full-time, every day and all day:
We printed out this picture to give our mothers for Mother’s Day as well, and I think they liked it:
