We played an innocent joke on the kids for April Fools Day this year- I asked the kids if they wanted some brownies after Hyrum got home from school. Of course they said yes, and when I took the lid off the baking dish, I had some brown-E’s inside. The kids thought it was hilarious! I did make them some real brownies too, though, so everyone enjoyed the joke:
For Cora’s field trip for our co-op preschool we went to the planetarium! Hyrum liked it, Cora tried to fall asleep during it, and I spent most of my time trying to keep Zane quiet and stop him from running away.
When Cora made a mistake, instead of saying “I’m sorry,” she told me, “I apologize.”
Here’s what Zane had for breakfast one morning: string cheese and Oatmeal square soup. Yuck!
Hyrum finally got a vest for doing his treatments for his CF! The first couple days he didn’t like it, but he has since warmed up to it and can set the whole thing up and get it started by himself. It’s great! Since we got it, both his and Zane’s treatments have become much more regular and quicker.
We enjoyed General Conference in April, even without Ryan (he was on a trip):
Cora loves to sing lullabies to Zane, especially when he’s upset. It actually helps sometimes! She also will rush to his side to give him a hug if he gets hurt, and that usually calms his crying as well. She is such a sweet girl
I have LOVED having a spring again! Here is one of our trees in the backyard all flowery:
I had preschool at my house again for our co-op this month. I did T for transportation one of the weeks, and these graham cracker stop lights were a hit!
Zane has started to have a monster yell and try to chase you when he’s in the mood. He also has started to feel real ownership of some toys, and if one of the other kids has one, he gets pretty upset about it. That includes his play laptop, Cars ride-on toy, and BeepBo. He also loves to sit in this bag Hyrum’s vest comes in:
Hyrum told Ryan that he wasn’t in charge of him. Ryan asked, “who is in charge of you then?” Hyrum said, “mommy.” Then Cora chimed in, “no, Jesus is!”
Mindi came to visit us for a few days in April and we took her to our zoo! Here are a couple pictures from that trip:

And, of course, we had to take her to Jones Bro. Cupcakes!
Hyrum has recently discovered Pokemon, and he has been obsessed! Him and Cora are always pretending to be Pokemon these days, he spends all his money on Pokemon cards, and is always wishing on a star that Pokemon would be real.
Zane has started to reach out to hold your hand, give kisses on command, and gives plenty of hugs all the time to everyone in our family, and to dolls and soft toys.
Zane is also quite the adventurer. In one day this month, he snuck into the pantry and spilled my baking soda everywhere, tried to flush a shampoo bottle down the toilet, and jumped into Hyrum’s bath fully clothed and head first. I really have to keep my eye on him because he gets into trouble so quickly!
We asked the kids one day while we were driving in the car if they could go anywhere, where would they go, and Hyrum answered, “Fargo!” I’m sure it’s because we had just gone there and stayed the night in a hotel with a water slide, but it was still pretty funny!
Hyrum has a tendency to lean his chair back and forth and Ryan is always telling him to stop rocking his chair. After he said that one time, Hyrum and Cora picked up their chairs and rocked them back and forth like a baby!
Zane is loving hats lately!
We just got a bunch of balls to play with in our backyard all summer, and Zane loves them. He wanted to hold all of them at once!

Ryan took the kids to a local learning farm this month because Hyrum’s request for his spring break was to see baby animals. There weren’t very many baby animals, but there were some fun playgrounds, hay rides, and animals to pet:
