January 2017

Cora found the bracelet I wore on my wedding day, and she wanted to wear it. I told her no, because I didn’t want it to get broken or lost since it was so special to me, since I had worn it almost 10 years ago on my wedding day. She responded, “10 years? It’s too old to be special!”

We went on a fun trip to the Children’s Museum over the Christmas break. The kids were artists:

And played on the giant animal sculptures:

Cora was even a chef for a little while:

And they always love taking pictures when they can put their face in it:

Zane learned to cross his arms and pout with his lower lip sticking out this month. I’m not gonna’ lie, it’s pretty cute.

When Ryan went back to going in to work most days after the break, it really threw off the kids. They kept asking when Daddy was going to wake up, because they thought he was still at home, just sleeping super long!

Cora loves to dress up in my shoes and jewelry and pretend to put on my makeup (which I remember doing the same thing with my mom’s stuff!). One day she put on a pair of my high heels and asked me while striking a pose, “Momma, do I look 6?”

I found out this month that Zane knows quite a few of his letters. I’m not 100% sure how this happened, but I think it may be due to so much time waiting in the car to pick-up Cora and Hyrum playing with a little laptop that repeats the letters every time you push it. Either way, for a kid who doesn’t have as many words as most his age, it surprised me that he already knew so many letters!

Me at 31 weeks with Baby Girl:

We had a snow day in January (not due to snow, but potentially crazy icy conditions that didn’t happen), so we took the chance to make a Valentine’s craft- animals out of hearts. Hyrum made a fox, Cora made an owl, and Zane had fun gluing all the pieces on:

The kids also built a pretty good fort on the snow day:

We got snow! Just a little, and it wasn’t packable, but the kids had fun playing in it anyways. Zane REALLY loves snow, and will stay out even when the other kids come in and his pants are soaking wet. He stayed out so long I started to worry about his warmth, but he did eventually come in! He kept picking up handfuls of snow, throwing it, and yelling, “hee-ya!”

Cora had hippie day at school one time, and this was all she would wear to try to be hippie-ish:

Hyrum has started staying up late to read, mostly chapter books these days. We got a Roald Dahl set of books for Christmas, and he has been making his way through those. I didn’t think that would start in 1st grade!

Hyrum also was telling us a story about how if you cross something and someone tags you, you can’t get the cooties. The he said, “they don’t know about my wonky toe- it’s always crossed!”
