Zane turned five in November! We had a fun time celebrating him. He liked making his brownie cake with Ivy:
The morning of his birthday, he got crepes and chocolate milk for breakfast, as he requested:
Then he got to open his presents (he was pretty excited about it):
He got a giant dinosaur, Captain America shield, dragons, helicopter, a Gekko shirt, Miles Morales Spiderman, and a Beanie Boo dragon.
He had a PJ Masks birthday party on his actual birthday, which was actually a pretty fun party to throw. We all had a part to play: Zane was Gekko, Ivy was Owlette, Hyrum and Cora were Night Ninja and a Ninjalino, Ryan was Romeo, and I was Luna Girl. The rest of Zane's friends were also PJ Masks.
We started the party with some superhero training. They had to fly around these buildings with the Owlette wings:
Then they had to use their Gekko strength to throw these "boulders" as far as they could. After that, they jumped from bean bag to bean bag with their Catboy agility:
After their training, Luna Girl (me) came out with some moon balls (white balloons) to attack the city, so they had to keep them from touching the ground. Eventually, they used the moon balls to defeat Luna Girl herself!
One little boy was scared of me when I came out of the guest room (I guess my cackle is pretty scary!), but he warmed up once everyone was playing with the balloons.
Then the kids had to run upstairs past the Ninjalinos (Hyrum and Cora) throwing sticky splat (pretend snowballs) to get to Romeo's laboratory. Romeo (Ryan) then showed them the concoction he was making to take over the world (a baking soda experiment). Ivy ended up being scared of Ryan as Romeo, so I guess he was a pretty convincing villain as well!
Then the kids were informed that Luna Girl had stolen the pinata, and they had to use their owl eyes to find pieces of the puzzle to see where she had taken it.
It led them upstairs, where they used their Catboy hearing to hear the music playing to find Luna Girl and the pinata in Hyrum's room. Zane bravely climbed the ladder to retrieve the pinata, and the heroes had won!
Then the kids came downstairs for a snack:
We still had a good chunk of time left, so the kids played in the basement for awhile. When they got bored of that, we played some "Hero, Hero, Villain," also known as "Duck, Duck, Goose":
We finished out the party with Zane's brownie cake, Sour Patch kids ice cream and some presents:
Then it was finally pinata time!
I think everyone had a great time, including our team of PJ Masks super heroes and villains:
After the party we went to Chick-Fil-A as a family where the kids played for a long time and got Oreo milkshakes!
That night we had quesadillas with ranch and watermelon (as Zane requested). He had a pretty great day, and I think he especially enjoyed all his presents!
We sure do love this birthday boy! He is so sweet and loving, and also the most likely to randomly start wrestling you. He loves to be silly, is all-boy, smart, good at puzzles, loves to help his little sister, and is growing up so much. He loves quality time, Super Smash Brothers and Mario Party, Legos, super heroes, reading, ranch dressing on anything, and his mom. He is a fun friend and already has a few different girls his age wanting to marry him!
Happy birthday Zebra (his current preferred nickname)!
