August 2024

August was a great month! We started it off with obsessive Olympics watching, and Ivy got some great ideas from it for her own routines:

I took all the kids back to school shopping separately, including getting a treat afterwards (though I didn't get a picture with Hyrum):

Ryan and I took Hyrum and Cora to the temple to do baptisms one morning, and it was great to be there all together:

Family bike ride one morning out to the trail by Utah Lake (Zane got a bit tired):

Grandma and Grandpa Schuetzler came down one day and we met them for lunch at 5 Guys:

Zane also enjoys using my phone to take random pictures:

Ivy was in a parade for her dance team this month, and she loved it! It was fun to see her light up and wave so much when she saw me in the crowd!

We also got to see the Oscar Mayer Weiner mobile at the parade!

It was fun doing the girls' hair some new ways one Sunday:

Back to School dinner and Father's priesthood blessings for the new year:

We also had a Twinkie contest, where these 4 competed to see who could eat 4 Twinkies the fastest (Ryan won by a lot):

Ivy had her late-night with friends, where they did nails and watched a movie together:

The biggest blanket fort we've ever made (it covered pretty much the entire playroom)!

Twinsies!

And just like that, summer was over! We did finish our summer fun list though, and it was a lot of fun!!

Back to School night at the kids' elementary school:

Cora started Jr High this month! She actually started school a day earlier than the other kids so the 7th graders could get used to going around the school without the bigger kids there. She's been loving Jr High so far!

Everyone else's first day:

Hyrum got dared/bribed to wear the tie-dye shirt he made while camping to his first day of school, and he followed through and made $10!

Here are the littles lining up for the first day! It was so nice for them to see their best friends that morning too:

Love these cuties and I love that they all love school!

The kids came home to freshly made chocolate chip cookies, made by me :)

Zane got a hold of my phone again:

Fun times at Airborne with friends, and Macey's ice cream afterwards:

Zane bought himself a bug catcher at the science museum this month, and he had fun catching and observing grasshoppers, a pill bug, and a praying mantis:

I went to BYU Education Week for a few sessions, and the flowers on campus were so beautiful!

Hyrum got his ribbons from the state swim meet, and we are just so dang proud of him!

Ivy got to take pictures with her dance team for some promo photos for her dance studio, and she was so cute!

We had a fun family outing going bowling and out to a Mexican restaurant one Saturday!

The kids tried their first fried ice cream!

Hyrum is really liking to cook and bake again, and he has even volunteered to make us some dinner and treats of his own free will! This month he made a copycat Costa Vida burritos for us one night!
Ivy also loves to help me in the kitchen! Here she is helping me make zucchini muffins:
Sometimes Ivy gets in weird positions to watch her tablet, and sometimes they're just cute cuddling:
Zane took pickleball classes this! He got a lot better and is now definitely better than me:

CF appointment this month, and it's a little hard for all of them to squish in the same room but we make it work:

Ryan took Zane on his date he earned to the Labyrinth escape room games and then to Costa Vida:

We all made homemade ice cream this month, and Ivy was determined to make hers the manual way- by shaking it with ice. Her hands got freezing cold!

Me and Ryan went to the movies on a date this month and saw this cool set-up for Wicked!

Ryan was on a cool panel at his conference in SLC this month!

I applied for a bunch of jobs this month, and ended up interviewing for one and getting it! I now work at BYU in the Office of Civic Engagement!

Anniversary date to The Cheesecake Factory!

Ryan took Ivy on her date to see Despicable Me 4 and to Chubby's:

Ryan's department at University Conference:

Ryan and I tried to go on a date where we would rent e-bikes to bike in Provo Canyon, but when we got there all of the bikes were gone. So, we just went to breakfast at a fun place in downtown Provo instead. They had a delicious banana bread and an interesting version of eggs benedict:

Our first football game of the season! We ended up winning and it was fun for us to all be there at the same time!

Hyrum got to go on a tour of the conference center and Church Office Building in SLC with his young men's group this month, and it was so cool for him! He also met one of the men in the Presiding Bishopric! It was such a cool and unique experience that could only happen because we live in Utah:

It was sad to end summer, but the kids are having a great start to the school year and we're all getting used to the new schedules!
