That's easy. 42. If you don't believe me, just ask Google. Where are you going to be 365 days from today? Now that's a tough question. As I'm preparing to enter my last year of school at BYU, it's a question I get fairly frequently in one form or another. Here is my best attempt at an answer.
This fall I'm going to be applying to Information Systems Ph.D. programs all over the country. The plan and the dream is to be going to one of them in Fall 2010. Actually, the dream is to suddenly strike it rich or win $1 billion in some sort of contest. Then I'll live forever on the interest, just working to keep my brain from atrophying. But short of that, I'll be getting a Ph.D. starting in Fall 2010.
The next question is, inevitably, "where?" The answer usually goes something like this: "I have no idea," or "wherever I get in." That's pretty much all we know at this point. We're considering applying at IS schools all over the country, and we have no idea where we'll get in. So we are currently in the exciting place of having no idea, not even an inkling, where we will be in 365 days. All I can say is, I hope it's not Provo.
