For a couple of weeks in August we went to visit the Schuetzlers in ND. It was way fun! We did so many fun things and Hyrum got plenty of attention from his Aunt Maren, Uncle Dallen, and grandparents. It was a really great vacation!
Hyrum learned the joy of playing with pots and pans in Grandma’s kitchen:
We also all went to SD to see Mt. Rushmore and some other cool things. We visited the geographic center of the USA in Belle Fourche, SD. (Excuse the picture. In my defense, the sun was really bright).
At our hotel/cabin you could ride paddleboats for free, so we definitely took advantage of that. Dallen and Maren liked it best, and they really liked to paddle and steer our boat towards the geese.
We went to Bear Country, USA, and got really close to a whole lot of bears (while inside the car). Here’s a different kind of bear we met:
And, yes, Mt. Rushmore! It is really cool to see this in person, and it has a lot more detail than I previously thought. It’s hard to believe some men actually sculpted it! (Again, it was bright).
While in SD we went to The Cosmos, and had to fight gravity! It was actually a house built straight on a hill, but it looked really funny inside to see all the people standing sideways.
We also went to an indoor water park in SD, which I had never been to before. It was awesome! I didn’t get sunburned :) After our trip to SD, we had some good days just being able to relax in ND. Our last night there we made s’mores in the backyard. Here’s a cute picture of that night of Hyrum with his grandparents:
Right before we left, we went to “Space Aliens.” It was a cool restaurant centered around aliens that also had some arcade games and things. It kind of reminded me of that play place in Toy Story 1 where Sid gets a hold of Buzz and Woody.
We also got to see the ND temple, and it is really beautiful!
I REALLY love this picture. All three of them look so cute!
Anyways, we had a GREAT time and are excited to go back to ND for Christmas! Thanks guys!
How fun! I love the pictures!
