So, this past month Hyrum’s new developments are:
He really LOVES shoes. Seriously, giving him shoes for his birthday was the best gift ever. Every day he goes through the shoe box and will bring me different pairs of shoes to put on, and will have a fit if I don’t put them on. He will also grab his own shoes and insist I put them on him
.
He really loves to walk around and play outside. This is a good thing, because now it is actually cool enough in Tucson to be outside. Before, I would only let him walk to the mailbox out in front of our house and back because we’d both be pretty sweaty just stepping outside. However, Hyrum will still kick and cry whenever I bring him inside. He will pound on the front or back door wanting to go back outside.
As you may be able to tell from the above points, Hyrum has started to throw tantrums. I pretty much don’t know the best way to handle them. Any ideas, anyone? I thought I wouldn’t have to worry about this for at least another 6 months!
Hyrum now knows how to open the long-handled doors in our house. Unfortunately, the bathroom I use has one of those handles and now if I forget to lock the door in the bathroom I get a surprise visitor :/
Hyrum is learning the parts of the face like eyes, nose, mouth, and ears from this flap-book we have. One of the other things in the book is “arms up.” He does this one every time, and it is very cute!
Hyrum likes yogurt, mini muffins, and pasta. He also loves Oreos, just like his dad. The funny thing with him though is he mostly only likes the frosting in the middle, so he’ll eat only the filling of like five Oreos at a time. I let him, of course, because any calories I can get into him are good!
His favorite book is Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? by Dr. Suess and I know it’s his favorite because I read that one about ten times per day, even though he has about 30 other books.
Hyrum had his first visit to urgent care the other day when he fell off this wooden zebra toy he rides and smacked his face on the tile. I didn’t see it happen, but when I got to him there was a ton of blood everywhere. If you know me, you know I hate blood and that this was a very trying moment for me. Not only was my son in pain and crying, but there was a lot of blood all over. Anyways, he was fine and didn’t need stitches or anything, just a lot of love and mushy food.
Hyrum’s only word he says these days is “uh-oh.” He says it whenever he drops something or breaks something. It’s actually very cute and I think he picked it up because that’s what I say when he drops something or breaks something.
Coming next week: Hyrum Halloween festivities pictures!
Is the white thing he is standing in a bookshelf? For some reason when I first looked at it, it looked like an elevator kind of thing, which probably doesn't make sense, but basically he looked tall in it, ha ha. I would be so freaked out if I saw Hyrum and blood everywhere! Where did it come from? Did he give himself a bloody nose or something?
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's a bookshelf we bought without the shelves on it yet, and he really loved to play in it. The blood came from his lip and top gum, poor kid :(
ReplyDeleteI love him! I can't wait to see him in December!
ReplyDeletewe've hit tantrums too! they seem to young to just "ignore" like i would do for a 2 or 3 yr old. if you find the secret, let me know!
