My Favorite Age So Far

Plays ‘Ring Around The Rosie’ by himself. If you sing the song, he will spin and fall at the end, then clap for himself.

Likes “helping” with the dishwasher (which is maybe not so helpful). He will take the silverware out, then put it back in.

Actually says ‘no’ to wanting me to hold him or pick him up. This is amazing because in his whole life, he has never said no to that until recently. That’s both good and bad.

Wants to walk down and up the stairs like a big boy (walking, not crawling) and lately, he can for a few steps!

Can climb onto our couches and chairs. He will then proceed to stand on the chairs, which scares the heck outta’ me!

No longer wakes up screaming most of the time, just babbles once he wakes up

Knows and occasionally says “Dada” (still waiting on the Mama, although it seems like he’s almost there)

Now has two real words: “uh-oh” and “no”

Runs away as fast as he can when I say, ‘come here.’ He does this with the cutest grin, so it’s hard to be mad about that.

Hyrum now knows where his belly and belly button is. It’s very cute to watch him lift up his shirt to show you :)

Hyrum is my little laundry helper. He likes to help me move things from the washer to the dryer, and he actually does a good job.

There are a couple of ways that I’ve messed up Hyrum a little:

When Hyrum used to eat, he would shake his head no when I would try to give him something to eat. He needed to eat to gain the weight he needed, so I would nod yes to try to get him to stop thinking no. Well, now he nods yes when he means no sometimes. Oh well!

Hyrum loves for me to put socks and shoes on him, probably because that is associated with him going outside. Well, when he would come hand me socks, I would put them on his hands because it was too hot for him to be wearing socks, and he thought that was pretty funny. Then for awhile, when I would get out socks to put on him, he would stick his hand out, ready for me to put them on there instead of his feet!
