February 2013

Cora has done a ton this month! At the very beginning of the month, she started crawling for real and has since become a little troublemaker around the house. She also finally got her first two teeth (on the bottom). And, she learned to pull up to standing!

Cora uses this picnic table like a walker, pushing it over the tile.

Cora’s first time all the way up the stairs- she looked so proud!

Cora loves to put objects into other objects, like toys in my laundry basket and cars in her toy drum. She loves pointing at noses and mouths, and she loves to read texture books. She will sit down with me and touch all the different textures in the book and even turn the pages, though she does try to eat the book as well.

Cora has a couple of words that we are figuring out. She says out/up- “ahp” which means, pick me up or get me outta here! She definitely says “mum-mum-mum” for me. And then we are still trying to figure out if “ah-da” is Daddy or Hyrum.

This is how Cora likes to watch TV (during Hyrum’s treatment):

Cora has a funny laugh, at first I thought she might be hyperventilating, but it turns out she just laughs that way.

Cora loves to grab a cup or anything else that has a slight echo and hold it up to her face and make monster growls. She thinks it’s hilarious, every time!

First ponytail!

Hyrum has taken to saying “kaboozers!” when trying to make Cora laugh, or surprise me, or a lot of other random situations. It’s kind of a cute word he made up, I think.

Things Hyrum has said: After taking the label off a water bottle- “Look! The water bottle is naked!” When I was doing something in a way he didn’t like- “Stop! You’re doing it the left way!” (Meaning the wrong way). And on one of our walks him and his little friend from down the street decided it wasn’t a sunny day, it was a “park-y” day and tried to convince us to stop at the park.

We’ve been doing some fun games and projects at our house lately:

Hyrum is figuring out the first letters of words lately, meaning he’ll say a word over and over to figure it out (and usually gets it right). Well, he tried to figure out the first letter of red but had a little problem because he has a hard time with r’s. He said, “wed, wuh-wuh-wuh wed. Wed (red) starts with W Mommy!” That was a hard one to explain to him why he was wrong Smile

If Hyrum knows we’re going to the store, he resists going to the bathroom before we leave because he wants to wait and go at the store. I thought kids were supposed to hate going anywhere else? I guess this is better though.

We went to a friend’s Mickey Mouse clubhouse birthday party where my friend made some awesome ears for the kids. We had a great time, and even Ryan had a blast, trying to blow big bubbles for the kids:

We had a great Valentine’s Day and Ryan really spoiled me! He had flowers delivered to the house, bought me chocolates, rented a chick flick of his own free will, and bought me beautiful bracelets that he picked out completely on his own (and they’re perfect!). The kids and I made treats and delivered them on the day, and I loved showing my love to friends and neighbors that way!

So in love!

It snowed again in Tucson! The last time it snowed it was in February as well. We got like an inch or two in the morning, then it melted, then it snowed all afternoon and evening and we got another inch or two! Hyrum LOVED it and keeps asking me if it’s going to snow again today. I just tell him it will in another two years, when he’s 5. We’ll see!
