I can’t believe that Cora turned one this month! This year has seriously flown by. As I’ve contemplated her one-ness, I find myself wishing I could just hold her and never let her go. She has grown up way too fast! Of course, she doesn’t let me hold her and cuddle her very much anymore- she just wants to crawl and climb and explore! She is definitely heading towards toddlerhood, but she isn’t walking yet. She has definitely been an easy baby (most people who watch her for the first time tell me that, and I agree).
Cora looks a lot like her brother did, except for her eyes. She has bright, beautiful gray eyes that are always watching and learning. She is not as concerned with getting into everything, and a bit more laid-back. She is pretty independent- she’s happy to crawl around the house, not needing me or anyone else in her sight. She still really loves Hyrum, and usually wants to play with what he is playing with and tends to follow him around. Another thing I love about her is that she is very clear about what she wants. She is even nodding these days when I ask her questions. Since her first few weeks I think it has usually been clear to me what she wants, which makes life with her so much easier. I just love this little girl so much- all her cuddles, and kisses, and smiles, and watching, and mischievous doings. Happy one year baby girl!
Here are some of my favorite pictures of Cora through this year, one for each month:
For her birthday, we did her smash cake and candle the Saturday before, when Grandma and Grandpa Martin and her cousin JJ were visiting:
Cora’s thoughts: What is everyone singing for? And what’s this flashing flame? I’m gonna grab it! (which she almost did)
"Waaah! Daddy made me touch it!”
I attempted to do a pastel rainbow effect inside the giant cupcake, but it didn’t quite turn out as I’d hoped:
Opening presents:
“I got a piece! Here!”
We got her a baby doll for her birthday, and so far she really loves it (and did right away). She likes to point to her nose and mouth and give her hugs:
Grandma and Grandpa Martin got her a ride-on toy that is also a grocery cart and has a phone. She really loves that too!
On her actual birthday, we went to the park with some friends in the morning, opened presents from Grandma and Grandpa Schuetzler, and sang to her again with some cookies. She really liked the cookies and ate two in under five minutes:
She got some cute clothes and a toy from the Schuetzlers which she also loves!
