We had a lot of rain this month! It was awesome! One day as it was raining I was singing “raindrops keep falling on my head” and then Hyrum chimed in, “and back, and heart, and car!”
Hyrum has started to get pretty vocal in primary, where he likes his comments to be heard and loves to answer questions the best he can. Sometimes his answers are pretty random though, like, “my daddy helps me by cleaning up my mess” and “I like to watch shows on the TV at night.”
We went to the baptism of a convert friend this month, and while one of the missionaries was talking about the Holy Ghost, Hyrum heard it and said, “Ghosts! I don’t like ghosts!” and hid in a little ball on his seat.
Hyrum was playing with his stethoscope and said, referring to Cora, “let me listen to her heart. (After listening) it sounds hungry.”
I heard Hyrum singing this song when he was in the bathroom, “I like Jesus, I love him and Jake and the Neverland Pirates and tomatoes, I like ‘em, I don’t like ‘em. When I’m older I get to go to Disneyland!” The end had a loud, long, high finish
I had to take Cora in to the doctor for her 15 month appointment in July and when we pulled into the parking lot, Hyrum said, “Mommy, do I need to get a shot?” I told him no, this was Cora’s appointment. He said, “Whew! That was close.”
We had to go to the doctor again just last week because I was worried about Hyrum’s fever and sudden problem with potty training, and before we left he put on his fedora and said, “I am going to wear this hat so the doctor can’t give me shots on my head".” He told the same thing to the lady at the front desk when we got there, and she thought it was pretty amusing too.
Hyrum’s favorite color is pink, his first real favorite color I think, because he wants everything to be that color: his plate, his shirt, his tie, etc.
Cora started doing a bit of a crazy peek-a-boo this month, where she doesn’t always cover her eyes.
Cora now barks when she sees a picture of an animal, and sometimes she’s even right because it’s a picture of a dog!
Cora also started saying juice, which she usually says as she hangs off the refrigerator door handles.
Cora shakes her head yes and no (and means it) and will sign for “more” and “all done.”
Cora will point to her “nose,” which usually means anywhere on her head.
Cora just loves swimming, can’t you tell?
At her 15 month appointment, Cora was in the 20th percentile for weight and the 90th percentile for height.
Cora LOVES to read, and is usually seen walking around the house holding a book and handing it to anyone who will read to her.
Cora also loves shoes, and puts on everyone’s shoes, as many as she can:
Cora has found the joy of Ring Around the Rosie, and generally prefers to play by herself while I sing the song for her.
When we ask her for a kiss, Cora will put her cheek out to touch your cheek. ‘Touching cheeks"’ somehow means a kiss in her mind
Cora has started to ‘lick the plate clean’ if she really liked her meal:
