We went swimming at least once a week this month, and I finally got Cora to not be terrified of getting in the pool!
Hyrum started preschool this month (I’m doing a co-op with a few other moms in our ward) and he is doing really there, though it does seem to make him pretty tired:
I went into the bathroom one day and saw a long string of toilet paper on the floor. When I asked Hyrum about it, he said he was “measuring the bathroom-” like the TP was measuring tape!
Cora is a big girl now! She is officially done with binkies, and she actually transitioned really well.
Cora signs “more” and “all done” and says “all done,” “amen,” “again,” and has the cutest ‘meow’ ever!
Hyrum loves to mimic Ryan and will repeat things he says pretty frequently (but he doesn’t do that with me).
Cora will now walk up and down the stairs, which is a little bit terrifying for me.
Hyrum runs up to me a couple times a day and says, “look how growing I am!” and stands really tall so I can see. He loves that he’s getting bigger!
Cora loves to wash her hands and asks me to help her do it all the time.
When I’m doing something Cora doesn’t like (usually singing), she holds up her hand and grunts, meaning “stop!” It’s actually adorable.
Cora LOVES Hyrum’s underwear. She will pull it out of his drawer any time she gets a chance and carries it around or tries to put it on. Silly girl!
Hyrum told me the other day, “When I get big I can go potty all day long and use a big toothbrush!” Those are definitely things to look forward to, son.
Hyrum is totally in a ‘why’ phase. I never really understood why parents found it annoying, I always thought it would be great to have a curious kid! But now, I get it. He asks about every little thing, all day long. Especially during a show. It’s impossible to watch a TV show or movie with this kid, because I have to end up explaining things to him the whole time. I am glad he’s curious, but I won’t be sorry to see this phase go, lol.
This month we had our first trip to the ER, due to Cora. She had a slight fever at the beginning of the week, then it went away, then all the sudden it went way high, to 104 that Wednesday night. Ryan took her to Urgent Care to see if she was ok, but they sent us away saying it was just a virus. Then I took her to a pediatrician the next morning (because her fever was still high, around 102) who said the same thing. That evening, her fever spiked again, to 105, even while she was on Advil. In a panic, I called the nurse and asked what we should do ( I had never seen a fever more than 102 before this). They kept us on the phone, we gave her some Tylenol to help the Advil, but within 20 minutes her fever had risen to 106. They said to take her to the ER, so Ryan did, and when she got there her fever was back down to 102. Whew! They again found nothing but gave her an antibiotic anyways and we kept her on a steady stream of both Advil and Tylenol for the next day or two and it finally went away. Scary at the time though!
Cora loves to sit with Daddy at the computer, put on his headphones, and bang on his keyboard:
Ryan’s last first day of school (as a student)! He only has a seminar this semester, so it isn’t much in the way of classes, but he’s also teaching a Networking class this semester, so he has quite a bit going on!
At the end of this month, Ryan and I were supposed to go to a U of A football game for free (in box seats, with free buffet dinner and popcorn and stuff), but we were told the wrong day and showed up a day late. It was seriously disappointing:
