Cora got a big girl bed! She loves it because she now has Frozen sheets and a pillowcase Transitioning her to a regular bed has been soooo much easier than when we transitioned Hyrum. I think that’s probably because of the age difference. Hyrum was 18 months, she was over 2. From day one she has been happy to climb into bed herself, gets a hug and kiss, and she’s down for the whole night or a whole nap. It’s amazing!
We said goodbye to some great friends this month, and it was pretty hard to see them go:
These two have been working together and friends for six years. Crazy to think they are now living across the country from each other:
Hyrum has said some funny things this month that we just had to write down.
I put some mousse in my hair for the first time in awhile, and Hyrum asked me what it was. I told him, and he said, “you’re putting moose in your hair? You’ve got moose hair in your hair??”
On another occasion, Hyrum told Ryan, “Daddy, you’re not the boss around here. Mommy is. You’re the boss of tickling feet, and Mommy is the boss of the rest of the things.” From the mouths of babes
We tried potty training Cora for two days early this month. It went okay, but not great, so we decided to wait and try again when she is three. That’s what we did with Hyrum, and that went pretty well for us!
We went to a family movie night and watched most of How To Train Your Dragon on a projector at a local park. The kids thought it was great!
Another Hyrum gem this month, after seeing hair on Ryan’s toe: “How is your body all made of hair??”
At bedtime, Hyrum and me have taken on a new tradition where I give him a kiss on a cheek (or he gives me one), and then we press our cheeks together, to squeeze in the kiss so it lasts all night. I love so many of the little things!
Our AC went out this month, luckily in the evening, so we got to spend about 20 hours with no cool air in Tucson, AZ in the middle of summer. Not ideal. Our very generous friends let us borrow their swamp cooler for the night, so we made it through by all sleeping in the living room right next to it. While my dad flew in the next day to fix it, I took the kids to the mall to play so we wouldn’t die of heat at home:
Cora’s catch phrase this month: “Leave me alone.” coupled with a majorly pouty face. She uses this in all instances- getting in trouble, getting hugs, Hyrum trying to play with her, etc. She has also thrown out a pointing finger and a “you’re mean!” It’s all actually kind of cute, probably because she’s two.
She has also become Hyrum’s little mimic. Whatever he is doing, she wants to do. She’ll even repeat what he says right after he says it. So far, Hyrum is mostly ok with it, although her repeating his words annoys him sometimes. She just wants to be just like him!
Here’s the latest pregnancy pic- me at 23 weeks (July 27th). I seriously cannot wait for our little boy to get here- why are there still so many weeks left until November?
