Good News and Bad News

Originally from Facebook (posted Jan 9th):

We have had great news and sad news these past few weeks. The great news we got right before Christmas and was better than anything I could have received under the tree this year: Ryan got a job as a professor at University of Nebraska- Omaha! We will move to Omaha this summer and he will start in August Smile

The very sad news we got just this past week- Zane has cystic fibrosis. The news was devastating at first, though not entirely unexpected, since it will always be a risk for us (which we found out when our oldest, Hyrum, was diagnosed with CF when he was a month old as well).

Zane’s first CF appointment:

I have found comfort in these scriptures from the Book of Mormon, which is another testament of Jesus:

"12 And Alma and his people did not raise their voices to the Lord their God, but did pour out their hearts to him; and he did know the thoughts of their hearts.

13 And it came to pass that the voice of the Lord came to them in their afflictions, saying: Lift up your heads and be of good comfort, for I know of the covenant which ye have made unto me; and I will covenant with my people and deliver them out of bondage.

14 And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions."
Mosiah 24:12-14

I have poured my heart out to my Father in Heaven, and I do know of a surety that the Lord does visit us in our afflictions, whatever that may be. I have felt uplifted by the prayers of our friends and family, and I thank you all (and thanks to the friend who directed me to that particular scripture passage). I may not always understand God's ways, but I do know that He has a plan for little Zane and our family, and that it is better than anything I could have imagined for us.
