Zane always spits out his binky when he sees Ryan. I think he knows playing with Daddy is a no-binky business. Zane is also ticklish! That’s how I first got him to laugh, at the end of this month- by tickling him right under his armpits.
This month Zane started sleeping 8 or 9 hours every night, with only one or two wake-ups where I just have to stick his binky in and he goes back to sleep. It’s so nice!
Cora wants to nurse her baby too:
Zane started trying to grab things this month and enjoys hitting hanging toys.
Zane now wants to see what’s going on around him, which makes nursing him with the cover on kind of tricky. And he wants to be held outward and upright so he doesn’t miss a thing, especially the antics of his older brother and sister.
When we carry Zane down the stairs, he usually stops breathing and his little face turns red. I guess he thinks he’s falling?
These were Hyrum’s (and Cora’s) valentines he gave out this year at school:
Cora decided to sing her personal prayer one night- that girl is always singing! She also will spit out her food if she doesn’t like it once she’s started chewing. It makes me think of the food critic Ego in Ratatouille- “If I don’t love it, I don’t swallow!”
When Cora was singing her ABC’s this month, she started A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-Y-R-U-M….. and she just couldn’t get back on track after that! It has taken some training to get hre back to singing the ABC’s without spelling Hyrum’s name in the middle. Also, we hear from her quite often, “I tooted,” accompanied with a silly little grin. She likes to tell everyone every time she does it
Family sugar cookie making time:
At a BBQ with friends, I was trying to get Cora to sit down and eat, and she told me, “Not yet! I have to dance first!” as she twirled and danced away from me.
Hyrum is constantly asking me and bugging me to take him to Disneyland. I guess it’s karma from me doing the same thing to my parents!
Hyrum is very into Disney commercials, and he will even use his screen time to seek them out and watch them online. And then tell me he needs all those toys he’s seen on them. Sigh.
Hyrum has a little best friend down the street that’s a girl. One day he came home from preschool and told me he had made invitations for his next party (kind of his thing in preschool right now). He said that he was going to have a “Barbie and the Secret Door” party, or whatever party (his best friend) wants him to have. I guess that’s one way to please a girl friend!
Hyrum LOVES it when Zane holds his finger. He calls it finger-holding, and will say things on his way to bed like, “wait! One more finger-hold!” and run to Zane to do it. So cute. Hyrum has also been obsessed with the TV show Ninjago lately. He always tells me he wants to learn spin-jitsu, and asks me when he can learn it. Maybe he’ll learn jiu-jitsu someday?
