For some extra summer fun, I froze some of the kids toys in a block of ice and they had fun trying to dig them out as it melted. They ended up just throwing the ice to get it to break, so here they are, showing their muscles (Cora’s face makes me laugh so much!):
Another summer entertainment option, constructing things with marshmallows and straws:
And then Hyrum’s favorite entertainment option, computer games. Like father, like son:
Cora was obsessed this month about being told pink princess stories, where everything in the story had to be pink. Like, “the pink princess lived in a pink castle, wore a pink dress, and had pink hair. She used her pink powers to make the evil witch pink. Then she went home to her pink castle, put on her pink pajamas and went to sleep in her pink bed with her pink pillow.” Every night, she would add more pink elements in the story and would add in things like, “no, her PINK wand!” as I’m trying to tell her some classic princess fairytales with a pink twist. She loves pink!
I sure do love this guy. We celebrated our 8th anniversary this month by going to Texas Roadhouse as a family. We will always remember year 7 of our marriage as one of the hardest and most challenging for our family, and we were happy to celebrate that there will be less craziness in year 8 (he bought me pretty pink flowers, too)!
Two of our kids had their first haircuts this month, Cora and Zane! Cora’s ends needed to be evened out:
And here’s Zane, before and after. My poor, bald, baby! I didn’t know the clippers would make it so short! Thankfully, it’s growing back more and more all the time.
Hyrum’s new favorite colors are gold and green, like the Green Ninja on Ninjago. He is also the friendliest little guy I know. The first Sunday his new teacher taught his primary class, he invited her over to his next birthday party and told her she should come play sometime.
Zane started to scoot, and then army crawl like crazy this month and is now pretty fast. He’s also added lots of new syllables, like “ga,” “ma,” and “ba.” He puts in his own binkie and makes kissy noises all day long.
I love these three soooooo much!! They make life crazy, but also give me so many, “I love being a mom!” moments.
Zane started to wave really well this month, as well as started clapping. He claps all the time, for no real reason mostly, but loves it when we say, “yay Zane!” when he claps. He’s also become super wiggly and difficult to hold now, so church is really difficult since he can’t really crawl everywhere!
Cora, talking to one of her friends who was over while they worked with playdough: “Your boy in kindergarten? My brother is. He’s big enough for kindergarten all the time. And school too.”
Here they are, trying on Mommy’s boots:
This boy is so darn cute. He insists on only wearing bow ties to church these days, so I’m glad we have a couple!
Cora started her first dance class this month! I must admit, putting her in those pink tights and pink leotard made my Mommy heart about die with the cuteness overload. So many dreams come true! So far, she loves it. And watching her in dance class is about the darn cutest thing I've ever seen!
Cora has a few words she loves to say, and it’s adorable. When we ask her how she slept, she says, “great” very nonchalantly. When asked if she wants to do something, she’ll say “absolupely!” When she’s doing well at something, she’ll say “excellent.” I like her positive terms!
Hyrum started T-ball this month! He is doing SO much better than last time- he can throw the ball a lot farther, his the ball harder, and focuses much better on where the ball is when he’s in the outfield. I am so proud of him! The only mishap we had his first game was when he was on 3rd base and another kid hit the ball, he forgot he was supposed to be running bases (instead of in the outfield) and ran after the ball instead! It took awhile of the coach trying to tell him to run home and leave the ball alone before he remembered what he was supposed to be doing. Then, he mostly walked to home base. Little kid baseball is too funny!
Also, I love that his first game, in AUGUST, was cool enough that Zane needed a sweater. I am loving it!
Zane went on his first swing this month! He loved it!
