Hyrum started Kindergarten this year, and so we decided to get some first day of school traditions! The Sunday before school, we had a fancy dinner and Father’s priesthood blessings:
The day before school we had a fashion show with their new school outfits:
Also, the day before school was when Hyrum got to meet his teacher and go inside and explore his new school. He also met their new mascot, Liberty:
And just like that, he started school! I cried a lot after I dropped him off. So much, that I couldn’t go to the “Boo-Hoo Breakfast” meant for moms dropping off their kindergarteners on the first day. I missed him a lot while he was gone ALL day for the first couple weeks, but I’m more used to it now. Cora has missed him a lot too, even asking all the time when we’re going to pick up Hyrum. But I think that now she’s enjoying her increased time with me and enjoying Zane a bit more too now. Hyrum loves school and his favorite part is usually recess. He has learned a lot of new songs that he sings at home and is always spouting little facts he’s learned.
Cora started our co-op preschool at the beginning of September and she is loving it! She even had a tantrum after her two days during the week of preschool were over and she had to wait a whole week to go again. She is learning her letter sounds and lots of other great things. She likes to say, “I learned the ‘B’!” when asked what she learned that day (or whatever letter it was). She’ awesome!
