My grandma passed away in February, and so my whole family went to Utah to celebrate her life and go to her funeral. She was an amazing woman, and it was so touching to see how her posterity almost filled the chapel where her funeral was held. Because of her testimony and dedication to the gospel, so many of her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren have had the blessing of having the gospel in our lives. I love her and know that I will see her again!
Here we are on our flight to Utah:
My parents took all the grandkids to Chuck E Cheese while all of us siblings got to go to Tucano’s!
My siblings and I bought flowers for my grandma’s funeral:
Here are all of my grandma’s grandchildren (except one, I think):
Me and my siblings with my dear grandpa:
Catching up with cousins at the lunch afterward:
All the Martins in one place!
Good thing the kids don’t mind sleeping on the floor!
Playing circus at my Aunt Karen’s house:
I got to do a few Provo things I’ve missed since I lived there, like Tucano’s, visiting with old roommates (forgot a picture!), and going to Macey’s. The kids loved their giant ice cream cones and free balloons!
Luckily for us, the Provo City Center Temple Open House was also going on while we were there, so we got to go to it with my sister!
Unfortunately, it was President’s Day, and I think every Mormon in the world was there that day. Even with a reservation, we waited in line for an hour and a half. People without reservations were waiting three hours, I was told! Once I realized how long the wait would be, I decided we weren’t going to wait, because the thought of waiting in a line like that for an hour and a half with three young children seemed crazy. And like no way would my patience last that long. However, as we were leaving the line, Cora said with tears in her eyes, “Mommy, I don’t want to go!” And so, we stayed. I thought no way would they make it- they’d be begging to go in another 20 minutes or so.
The line:
Trying to keep ourselves entertained in the line:
In the end, we did make it through the line. And it wasn’t so bad. And after going through the temple and feeling that beautiful peaceful feeling, and knowing my kids were feeling that too, I felt it had all been worth it.
It is such a beautiful temple, with special meaning to me (and many others, I’m sure), because of the events I went to there when it was the Tabernacle while I was at BYU. I love this temple, and I hope to go back someday and do a session there.
We had a good trip to Utah, and I’m glad for the time I got to spend with both my immediate and extended family.
