This month we had a couple great snow storms. For one of them, I went out with the kids and we built snowmen, had a snowball fight, made snow angels, and built a fun little fort:
Zane LOVES to climb. Anything and everything, again and again. He has also started saying a new word- “uh-oh.” He likes to say it all the time as he drops things all over the place.
Zane has also started to hug little stuffed animals and dolls when he picks them up, which is adorable!
My parents came to visit this month, and we had a great time! My kids love how spoiled they get when Grandma and Grandpa come, as shown by Zane having a sucker in one hand and Oreo all over his face with Grandma:
Grandpa went out sledding with us, and we all had a great time with only minor injuries!
The kids even liked “penguin” sledding, where they’d slide down on their bellies:
We also got to decorate some fun Valentine’s Day cookies together:
Zane has started to flip his lips with his fingers while making a “buh-luh-buh-luh” sound. It’s pretty cute!
The kids had fun with their valentines this year, and I had fun decorating our mantle. Cora wanted a snowman valentine, and Hyrum wanted a balloon valentine. Hyrum also picked a Perry the Platypus valentine box. I thought it turned out awesome!
Both kids have been a little obsessed with using my phone to take pictures lately, so there are a lot more random pictures of me, as follows:
One night I came home from a meeting and noticed Hyrum’s light was on (and it was definitely past bedtime). Ryan went up to check on Hyrum, and he was lying in his bed writing something. He told Ryan, “I’m writing a song.” I guess you must write when the inspiration strikes you…
This is Cora’s airplance she made from the chairs we have to keep away from the table so Zane won’t climb them. Cora also gave her first talk in primary this month! She decided she wanted Hyrum to help her, so he did. It was so adorable watching Hyrum whisper the talk into her ear and then hearing her say it. She did great!
We had a couple of nice days in February, so on one of them we took the kids on a little bike ride. I seriously love the wide open spaces around here! (This is at the end of our street):
We celebrated Valentine’s Day a little late due to our trip to Utah, but it didn’t matter to the kids. They loved their little Valentine’s gifts, crepe breakfast, and giant heart-shaped brownies. We also got to read the little love notes we wrote to each other all month. I loved the valentine Hyrum made for me at school- a little heart “pinch-pot” (his name for it). It was so cute, because he worked really hard for weeks to keep it a secret from me, hiding it different places, and moving it around so I wouldn’t see. It was an awesome valentine!
The night of our late-Valentine’s Day we went on our Valentine’s Date/gift- we got to go out to a nice dinner, get ice cream, then to see Newsies at the The Orpheum in Omaha. It was such an amazing date! We were even in the 5th row for the show! I loved having such a long, relaxed, and fun date with my favorite person ever.
Cora got a fortune cookie from my sister this month, and she wanted to read the fortune. It said something like, “You will find that there are things that matter more than money or success.” She responded with, “I want money!”
Hyrum had his music program for school this month, and he did such a cute job! He even got to play the xylophone. The theme was bedtime songs, so they got to wear their pajamas. He had a line in the program too, which said something like, “sometimes you’re really awake when you sleep.” It was hard to understand him and he didn’t seem to sure what he said later, so that’s the best I got. But it was so cute! And he did great!
I was looking at a mole on Cora’s arm when she asked what I was doing. I told her, and she said, “Hyrum has a lot of little moles on his face!” I guess that’s one way to describe Hyrum’s freckles!
Cora selfie:
Zane has discovered a LOVE for fruit snacks. So much so, that if the pantry accidentally gets left open, he will get in there and bring me the box of fruit snacks and whine to get one. For a LONG time.
I got to go on a really fun girl’s trip to Ikea in Kansas City one Saturday this month. It was a whole day excursion, including 4 hours at Ikea and a delicious lunch at supposedly the best-rated BBQ place by Zagat (it was really good). Thanks to Ryan for watching the kids and putting together all of the Ikea stuff once we got home!
