The kids really loved playing in the leaf piles again this month! And I love living somewhere that has such a beautiful fall.
We found out in November that we are having a girl! That is exactly what Hyrum and Cora wanted (so we would be even with boys and girls), so I’m just glad I didn’t have to deal with any disappointed kids. We told the kids by buying them sugar cookies with pink frosting:
The kids didn’t even act that surprised or excited when we told them. It was kind of like, “duh, mom, we knew it was a girl!”
This was how we announced the gender on facebook:
We got a pretty new dishwasher this month, which Ryan and a friend installed:
Zane has started to repeat more of a prayer to us when we pray, which is very cute, but he also takes it upon himself to be the reverence police during prayer. He’ll open his eyes and chide those who also have their eyes open or aren’t folding their arms, as well as shush them if he feels they aren’t being quiet enough! It’s kind of hilarious.
This is one of our kids’ favorite Family Home Evening activities- hot dog! They lay on a blanket, and Ryan tolls them up. Very simple, but the kids love it!
We were telling the kids how we are all children of God, when Cora said, “you aren’t children! You’re grown-up children of God!”
My parents came out to visit us in November, and we all enjoyed it!
My mom went with me and the kids to The Jungle Book play:
And they bought the kids cookies and ice cream just because they wanted some:
We were trying to get the kids to eat their one bite of dinner they have to try, and Hyrum tried his and said he liked it. Cora tried hers and said, “I don’t like it. I’m not a liker-pants.”
Also food-related, we had the kids try tater-tots one night at dinner. Cora took her tiny little bite, then told us, “my teeter-totter is SO yucky!” and promptly spit it out.
Hyrum always complains and gets upset when all he has left in his drawer to wear are jeans. He always tells me they’re so uncomfortable. So, when I caught him wearing them to bed one night, I asked him why on earth he would want to wear “uncomfortable” jeans to bed! He tried to convince me then that his jeans are only uncomfortable in the day, and that they are comfy at night!
Here’s me trying to get a good Christmas picture of the kids, and it wasn’t super successful:
Hyrum and Cora learned at school about the election, and they both wanted Hillary Clinton to win (because they really wanted there to be the first female president). When I told them the results the day after the election, Hyrum told Cora, “Cora, when you grow up you have to decide if you want to be president or not. I’ll vote for you!”
Here’s Hyrum trying to pop a balloon (a pokeball) at a friend’s birthday party this month:
