Zane turned two in November! Grandma and Grandpa Martin came to town a couple weeks before his birthday, and they took him to Build a Bear to create his own birthday present: a stuffed bunny, complete with “Happy Birthday” shirt, backpack, and a noise box that says, “Happy Birthday Zane!”
He got to step on the pedal to fill it with fluff:
They tell me he had a great time, and he sure loves to cuddle his bunny! (He also loves to press the sound button over and over and over and over…)
Grandma and Grandpa Martin also took him (and the other kids) to the Chick-Fil-A play place and got him a giant “Happy Birthday” cookie so they could sing to him while they were here:
On Zane’s actual birthday, he got to open some of his presents before breakfast, including new boots, outfit, a stuffed gecko from the kids, and a Little People helicopter! He liked opening presents, though he wasn’t the fastest at it, and the kids had to help him a bit.
Zane got his favorite breakfast, Lucky Charms, then later that day Ryan took the kids to one of Zane’s favorite places: the Children’s Museum!
They were car mechanics:
Played with the balls:
Painted:
Were doctors and dentists:
Got to “operate” a some big machinery:
And it all ended when Hyrum got a ball kicked in his face and started bleeding like crazy. So all in all, a successful birthday outing!
Later that evening we had Crazy Bread and watermelon for dinner, then watch Finding Dory. I think he had a pretty good day! We waited to do his cupcakes and the rest of his presents until Ryan’s family for Thanksgiving the next day.
Zane really loves his stuffed monkey and the monkeys at the zoo, so it seemed fitting to make him monkey cupcakes for his birthday:
He liked getting sang to and did great blowing out the candles this year, though he may have also blew some spit as well:
This boy loves cupcakes!
He loved opening more presents, where he got a stuffed Marshall (from Paw Patrol), soft Paw Patrol blanket, a Llama Llama book, Darth Tater Potato Head, and a Go! Go! Tech car track. He has loved all his toys! And I think he loved all of his different birthday celebrations.
Ryan and Maren putting together the track:
Zane is such a cute, mischevious, and cuddly little boy. He gets in to everything, but will always tell you sorry and give you a hug afterwards. He loves to tease his big brother and sister, and is really a little comedian, always trying to ham it up and do anything for a laugh from us. Lately he really just wants to be near me or his siblings, always wanting his hand held or to be carried. He LOVES to be outside and tries to sneak past me every time the door is open to anywhere. We love him so much and are so grateful he is part of our family!
