We did so many fun things in December! The month started off with a Relief Society Christmas dinner, and here is the table I decorated for it (plus some of the wonderful ladies I get to serve!):
We decorated the tree as a family, and the kids were really into it this year. Things weren’t as spaced out as I’m used to, but I loved that it was a family effort:
Here’s a cute sugar cookie decorating kit I made for one of the sisters I visit teach:
The kids requested that we decorate sugar cookies too, so here we are:
It got a little messy at the end:
Hyrum made a “Ninja-bread man”, Cora used tons of sprinkles like always, and Zane just wanted to eat his!
Ryan made this sign for our bedroom door, since we were mid-wrapping one night and didn’t want to have to put it all away just to take it out again the next morning. The kids were very obedient to this sign and kept calling our room “Christmas Headquarters!”
When Ryan asked Cora about the sign, she said she “read” it, and that she didn’t go in, and she didn’t look sideways, like it it told her not to, lol.
Matching Christmas pajamas in front of our pretty tree!
We read lots of Christmas stories, and Hyrum even read some to the younger two:
I think Cora took this picture. Can you find Hyrum?
We went to the Durham this year for their Central Station Christmas Celebration. The kids liked this statue, because the girl was holding a present:
They also had a display of Christmas trees from around the world, and the kids loved doing the scavenger hunt to find the special objects on the trees:
They had a giant, real Christmas tree in the lobby, and the kids loved all the giant ornaments:
And they got to meet Santa! I think everyone was happier that no one had to sit on Santa’s lap this year:
The kids loved meeting a real-life reindeer, Blitzen, and they still talk about him often!
They also got to make Snowman crafts at the Durham:
And we finished off our fun night at the Durham with some ice cream, which made everybody pretty happy:
For our branch Christmas party this year we did “A Night in Bethlehem,” which was meant to make you feel like you were in Jesus’ time. Here is the booth our Relief Society was in charge of (plus my awesome counselor and her husband):
The kids liked dressing up like Jesus’ time- Cora said she was Mary and Hyrum said he and Zane were just kids from ancient times:
I even got Ryan to dress up (a little)!
There were booths set up with different kinds of food, like meats, fruit, a bakery, dairy, etc.
The kids also got to play with some clay, color, play with a dreidel, and listen to a story from the storyteller:
The night ended with the classic Christmas play with the primary and youth singing songs in between. It was a fun night!
When we got back from Arizona, we did the one last thing that we still hadn’t done that the kids really wanted to do this Christmas season- see the gingerbread houses at the Trail Center:
Then we went home and made our own gingerbread houses:
Christmas is always full of so many fun activities, and I think the kids really enjoyed the season!
