December 2020

Google's Then and Nows:

Ivy and I had fun doing preschool this month! The first week of December we did a regular Christmas theme, and she cut out playdough "cookies," put pom ornaments on a tree, made a Christmas tree out of Magformers, and did a milk experiment with Christmas colors and shapes:

Ryan was part of a funny video for the student organization for his department, and it was fun to watch him make his part:

Ryan also climbed on the roof to put up our Christmas lights, and he actually loved it:

It has become a Sunday tradition now, I guess, for Ivy and Zane to fall asleep during at-home church, and then Ryan to join them right after:

For the second week of Ivy's preschool in December, we did holidays from around the world. The first day we did Chinese New Year, the second day we did Hanukah, and the third day we did Christmas in Mexico (including Las Posadas and a pinata):

Here's Zane, making a snow angel inside, on the floor:

My parents came for a visit in December (and for my birthday!) and they gave the kids some fun games that they all enjoyed playing together:

My mom couldn't put any wait on her foot since she was still recovering from her surgery, which led to my dad having to drag her into the house one time:

My dad enjoyed wearing the beard ornaments we gave him:

And in December it was my birthday! I got breakfast in bed, my mom took me clothes shopping, I got a super delicious chocolate mousse cake from a bakery in Provo, we got take-out from my favorite local Mexican restaurant, and then my parents watched the kids while Ryan and I went on a real, leave-the-house date!

For my birthday date, we went to Lumaze near SLC, where Ryan got me the best surprise- our old friends from Tucson joined us for the evening! I really love these friends, and it was so fun to see them and spend time with them again:

Then we ended the night with some ice cream from Sweet Rolled Taco- ours was covered with gold leaf! It was delicious and cool to eat gold on my birthday. This ended up being one of my favorite birthdays of all time, so I'm really grateful for everyone who helped make it special.

The kids had a few dress-up spirit days at school this month, and even Ivy wanted to get in on the "wear red" day:

They also had a holiday crazy hair day that was pretty fun (the boys wore the beard ornaments in their hair):

Mindi visited in December as well, and she helped the kids build a tiny snowman in the backyard:

Everyone loves Sunday family cuddle time (which mostly turns into tackle time):

We did a lot of Just Dance together over the break to get our bodies moving:

The kids pretended to be each other's reindeers for a bit:

Drawing for FHE one night:

"Ice skating" on the concrete pad in our backyard:

The kids had fun trying out Hyrum's fire kit from Kiwi Co:

Cora built a cool drifting motorcycle from her Kiwi Co kit:

We took some family pictures in our Christmas Sunday clothes (though we forgot to wear them the Sunday before Christmas):

We had a fun December!
