March 2023

We had a great March! Here's a Then and Now:

Ivy with a craft from her 5th birthday party:

Zane finished up basketball this month- he improved so much over the season!

As a family we went to see a replica of the tabernacle the Israelites used in ancient times that BYU had put up. It was cool to see and I think we all learned a lot!

Hyrum went to his first official church dance this month! It was a glow in the dark one, and he had a blast!

Cora competed in the Battle of the Books this month, and she and her team rocked it! Her team made it all the way to the semi-finals, and only lost because of a SUPER tricky question. We were so proud of her and all the work she put in to do so well!

Hyrum competed in the Beehive Championship meet this month, which was his big end meet of the short course swimming season. It was up in Heber in the middle of a big snowstorm up there, so they ended up closing Provo canyon on their way out, which pushed the meet to start late. Then they couldn't get home because of all the traffic and the snow, so they ended up getting a last minute hotel in Heber:

The next morning they got breakfast out:
By then the storm had passed and the canyon was open, so me and the kids went to join Hyrum and Ryan in Heber to watch the second day of the swim meet. Hyrum did awesome and we were glad to be able to watch him!
Zane had fun playing on the stair railing at the meet:
The younger three kids had a spirit week this week which included a hat day and a superhero day:

We had a fun St. Patrick's day! The kids were able to follow the treasure hunt to their pot of gold in the morning:

Zane and his best friend matched for St. Patrick's day unexpectedly:

Cora even grew a green mustache for the holiday:

We went to a friend's house for a special Irish dinner that night, and we brought a rainbow fruit and veggie tray:

I took Ivy and a couple of her friends to the butterfly museum one day this month:

I made a charcuterie board for a girl's night this month, and it was so fun!

We had a big snowstorm near the end of the month, and even though I had to force the kids out to play in it (they're sick of snow), we all had fun in it eventually. I even went out by myself to build this snowman:

Cora's class at school did a wax museum this month where they researched a famous person, wrote a report, made a poster about them, and then dressed up like them to tell spectators about the person's life by pretending to be them. Cora chose to be Mary Bowser, a slave who was also a spy for the Union during the Civil War. She did a great job and we were so glad to be able to see her perform!

The kids had fun playing with the balloons left over from Ivy's birthday party this month:

Zane loves organizing his toys:

Ivy had a dance competition this month, and her team did great! They got one first place and one second place. It was also fun because Cora and Grandma and Grandpa Schuetzler came to watch this time!

Ivy got to go to Nickelmania for a friend's birthday party this month:

Ryan got to tour the backstage of the Marriott Center at BYU with the Elder's Quorum this month:

Ryan and I went on a fun date to Box bites, which had delicious mini pizzas, followed by a tour of the MOA by one of its' directors, then some cheesecake from Momo's:

We went on a date the next week to Mozz pizza, Twisted Cow for shakes, and a classical percussion concert at BYU. One of Ryan's students ended up spotting us at the concert, took a covert picture of us, then posted it to the classes' group chat calling it a "Dr. S and Mrs. S sighting," lol.
