April 2023

Crazy how much our family has grown in the past 5 years!

For April Fool's Day this year, Ryan brought home a donut box and we filled it with carrots. The kids were so excited for donuts, then we pretty disappointed when they found carrots inside. Don't worry, the kids did still get donuts!

We had a great conference weekend! It does seem like the kids all pile on top of us when we try to watch it though:

Silly girls making mustaches out of tape:
Ryan started reading to the kids again, and it's pretty cute:
Park day for Ivy and her best friend!

I went to Clear Creek with the 5th graders (Cora), and they played a bunch of fun games, including "giant, gnome, fairy":
They also got time to play in the snow, but the snow was like 4 feet deep and kind of melty underneath, so they spent most of the time stuck in the snow or digging people and their boots out:

Cora also got to be in charge of her group, and she LOVED that. She had a great time and I was glad to be there with her!

Zane started soccer this month! He is doing great and likes to be goalie:

Hyrum had some swim meets this month, including one where they did a little Easter egg hunt:

He also had his "end of short course season" swim celebration, which included a picture with the whole team:

Ryan and I went on a fun date to Mystique Dining this month with some friends and it was super fun! We had a fancy dinner followed by a performance from a magician.

Ryan finished his semester of teaching this month, and his students were so sweet to make him a card and all sign it. It says things like, "highlight of the semester," "this was my favorite class," "you're an amazing role model," "I always look forward to your class," "GOAT teacher GOAT class," and "loved your class, way more that I thought I would." They also got him this yellow hat, because the students this semester decided that Ryan looks like the man in the yellow hat (from Curious George), lol:
My tulips bloomed!
I got to go with Ivy to her field trip to Farm Country this month. She saw a peacock, sheep, cows, goats, chickens, and went on a hay ride:

Our family went to Provo Beach when they had a random Monday off this month.

We started with some surfing/boogie boarding. Both Zane and Hyrum were able to stand up while surfing this time!

Then we played in the arcade, went bowling, played laser tag, and rode the carousel:

The kids make some funny bowling poses:
I got to help at Zane's end of the year party, where we did a bean bag toss and some limbo:

Cora got her back handspring this month! It was so exciting!

Ivy made hot cocoa bombs with Grandma Schuetzler this month:

I started substitute teaching this month!
Biggest news ever- Ryan was officially awarded tenure this month!!! This day was eight years in the making, and has included so much stress and anxiety, but he did it!!!!
Here he is with his bosses when he was told the good news:

He got a gift basket from BYU and some balloons from us to celebrate:

We did a quick dinner out that night since our kids all had their activities but we still wanted to celebrate in some way:
Fancy lunch with work friends:

The big celebration was later that week- we had both our parents, Dallen, Cami, and Uncle Jerry all go out to dinner with us! We even got Ryan the big non-alcoholic pina colada drink in the pineapple:

Ivy had her last dance competition this month. She did so great! She is is sassy and fun to watch out there on the stage:

She was able to get a bunny cotton candy afterwards, which she loved!
Cora had her tumbling showcase that same day, and she did awesome! It was so fun to have both sets of grandparents there too to celebrate!

It was a full month, but so much fun!
