San Diego 2024

At the beginning of June we took a super quick trip to San Diego, mostly because we were tagging along with Ryan on his work trip. We stopped at a McDonald's with a playplace on the drive up:

The first night we got there, the kids wanted to swim right away, even though it was pretty cloudy and not that hot:

The next day Ryan headed to SDSU to learn more about his robot:

While he worked, the rest of us went to Balboa Park. We started the day by walking around and checking out the cool architecture:

The kids loved playing on the Nikigator sculpture for awhile:

We took a little walk through Palm Canyon and saw these huge trees with crazy roots:

We saw the organ pavilion:

Then we headed over to the Fleet Science Center, where the kids had a great time playing with all the exhibits:

We also saw the rose garden at Balboa Park:

And the Spanish Village Art Center:

Moreton Bay Fig Tree, over 100 years old:

Then we picked up Ryan and headed to dinner, which included some delicious carne asada fries and breakfast burritos:

More swimming (the kids favorite part of any vacation). They played some sort of game where one kid would decide the theme, then the other kids had to jump in the pool using that theme and they would be given a score by a judge:

The next morning we went to La Jolla Cove to check out the sea lions:

Then we headed to La Jolla Shores beach. It was a cloudy day and a bit chilly (too chilly for swimming), but we all still enjoyed it:

Ryan and Cora sculpted a turtle:

A few different sand castles were made:

Hyrum found a live mussel/clam thing:

Ryan and I walked down the beach by ourselves for a bit:

After the beach we headed to Coronado island, which was such a cute little town. We first walked Coronado beach and got some fun popsicles with toppings:

We checked out a bit of Hotel del Coronado, where we saw a bit of a wedding and a ton of construction:

Then we headed to the other side of the island to rent a surrey bike for us to all ride all around the island. This was so fun and hard!

We saw some real crazy trees with crazy branches on our bike ride, and some adorable houses like this one that looked like it was from Snow White:

The view of San Diego from Coronado Island:

The kids swam some more that night, then we headed home the next morning. On our drive home we stopped in Beaver at Denny's. The kids got sprinkle pancakes, Ivy made Hyrum look like he had T-Rex arms, and the kids met the mascot of Beaver:

It was a super short but fun trip!
