"Wow! You haven't gained much weight at all!"
"Your belly is so cute!"
Near the due date: "How are you feeling today?"
"Oh, pretty good."
"Darn."
(This from my mother)
Past the due date: "Wow! I didn't expect to see you in church today."
I'm sure a lot of you women out there have many, many others. Feel free to put them in a comment, because sometimes I just sit back and laugh at how silly those would sound to a non-pregnant woman.
In other news, something fun Ryan and I have done twice now in the past month or two is go someplace random for dessert/dinner when we travel to a different city for some event. For example, we went to Saratoga Springs a couple of weeks ago to pick up some baby stuff from Ryan's aunt and decided we were going to get dinner and dessert at some place there that is not a national chain or somewhere we've been. We ended up having this awesome Peach Bomb at Emmit's and Ethel's in Lehi, where they also had tons of other yummy looking stuff and good looking dinner too. We've decided we'll have to go back there and eat dinner and try a different dessert sometime because it was truly delicious. And we just found it on the side of the road!
On Friday night this past week we went to a reception of one of Ryan's old mission companions in Heber and decided to grab some dessert there too. We ended up going to someplace called like Corner Sweet Treats or something that we found on the side of the main road where all of their ice cream is homemade right in the shop. It was kind of cool too because it was like an old-time ice cream shop feel and the older lady at the counter was all friendly and fun to talk to. I had rocky road (of course) and peach custard, and Ryan had cheesecake ice cream with a huckleberry compote topping. SO GOOD! The whole thing seemed all small-townsy and cute, and when we left the older lady told us "you let us know when that baby is born, ok?" Ryan and I agreed, but have no idea how we will tell this lady when the baby comes. But it was cute.
Anyways, we are determined to do this more since we have had such success already! It's kind of like a mini adventure.
I got a good one the other day from a co-worker:
ReplyDelete"So, are you feeling all big and awkard yet?"
Imagine how that would sound if you weren't pregnant!
I hope everything goes well this week!
