It was my turn to plan Valentine’s Day this year, and I had some fun doing it! Basically, I thought of a bunch of little activities we could do (for free) and wrapped up something to do with each activity. I made sure the boxes were all different shapes so Ryan couldn’t tell what was in each box. On Monday we went to dinner with Hyrum at Chili’s (thanks for the gift card Cindy and Paul!). When we got back from dinner I let Ryan open a box, and then we’d do the activity before he opened another one. Here’s what we did:
- Treasure map (leading to his gift- plus a card I made- in a box in the closet- it was the game Loot)
- Watch wedding video (wrapped the DVD)
- Look through our dating scrapbook (wrapped some scrapbooking scissors)
- Decorate sugar cookies (wrapped some cookie decorations)
- Constellation searching in the backyard (wrapped a constellation map I printed from online)
- Dance to romantic music in the living room (wrapped a love songs cd)
- V-day crossword I found online- Ryan and I have recently discovered we like doing these together (wrapped the newspaper)
Ryan got me flowers and a baking sheet for Valentine’s Day; aren’t the flowers pretty?
On Tuesday we had a REAL date! We swapped babysitting with another couple in our ward, so we were able to go to a movie (with movie coupons from my parents- thanks Mom and Dad)!
I also made us a nice dinner before we went out: it was angel hair alfredo, garlic bread, Caesar salad, and homemade chocolate truffle cheesecake. Yes, it was definitely calorie overload, but it was so yummy!
The movie, True Grit, was really good but ended stupid so that kind of messed with the overall evaluation of the movie.
Anyways, awesome Valentine’s Day(s)! I love my dear husband Ryan and my little boy Hyrum. They are the two best valentines a girl could ask for :)
