I’ve been trying some new things in the kitchen lately, trying to improve my skills, and I just thought I’d share.
For dinner this past week I made fried chicken, homemade mac n’ cheese (pictured below; both from the Joy of Cooking Cookbook), buffalo chicken pizza (my own concoction based on a pizza at Pizza Pie Cafe), and some other not-so-new things.
For desserts we’ve tried brownie covered Oreos, snickerdoodle cupcakes, and homemade pop-tarts (pictured below).
The best things I made were probably the homemade pop-tarts (click the link above to find the recipe). They’re so easy, you should try them. However, the pizza and fried chicken were also delicious.
Here’s my Buffalo Chicken Recipe:
Fleischmann’s Pizza Yeast (follow instructions on package)
Pre-made boneless buffalo wings (I bought the Any’tizers small box)
Ranch Dressing
Frank’s Buffalo Wing Sauce
Mozzarella Cheese
Melted butter
Make the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle. Mix the ranch dressing and buffalo sauce (about 1/4 of each bottle) so that the mixture is about half ranch and half buffalo sauce. Spread the buffalo/ranch mixture on the dough. Cut up the boneless buffalo wings into small 1/2 inch pieces and sprinkle on the sauce. Cover the pizza with mozarella cheese. Brush the melted butter on the crust of the pizza. Cook according to directions on pizza yeast package.
It’s way spicier the first time you eat it than if you have it leftover the next day. Ryan liked it best the first day, I liked it best the second day.
The brownie covered Oreos were way easy. I found the idea/recipe from a friend on Facebook. All you have to do is mix up a brownie mix according to the package’s directions. Dip Oreos (we used double-stuf) in the batter on both sides and put each one in a lined muffin cup. Bake at 350 for about 10 mins.
