Hyrum’s Room-
We upgraded Hyrum’s room recently since he is now a big boy and in a regular bed. In case you forgot, here’s the before:
Now, here’s the after. We didn’t actually paint or anything, just changed the curtains, the bed, the bedspread, and the decorations:
Here’s a close-up of the art I put together for his room:
I used frames I’ve had for forever (anyone remember these from our sophomore apartment?) and cut out car, plane and boat shapes from some material I have left over from Hyrum’s baby shower (thanks Natt!). The truck in the middle is something Ryan made in his shop class in high school. Hyrum loves his new room- he always likes to show it off to visitors. And when I finally finished decorating it he said, “I wuv my woom!” And still says it about once every week :)
Cora’s Room-
Since we didn’t know if Cora was a girl or not for a long time (after three ultrasounds), I wasn’t really able to get started on her room until late in my pregnancy. In fact, it took me so long to decide on her bedding that I didn’t actually start painting her room until the Saturday before she was born. She was born that following Tuesday afternoon. So, maybe painting her room put me in labor! But I also didn’t finish before she was born, so Ryan finished painting it for me for Mother’s Day. It was the perfect gift! Here’s the before, all full of clutter:
After:
Here’s a close-up of the art I did for her room:
I actually made two of these, thinking they would be nice flanking the curtains, but it was a little busy. I may do a little rearranging of the artwork in there. I just mod-podged some flowers cut out of tissue paper (from gifts from my baby shower for Cora) onto canvas and added some rhinestones. I got the idea from here: http://icanfindthetime.blogspot.com/2012/01/tissue-paper-decopauged-art-work.html
Playroom-
I don’t know if I took before pictures, but if I did, I can’t find them. Just know it was a huge, white space. Here’s the after:
Here are the two things I made for the playroom. ABC artwork (I found a bunch of versions of these online):
And a line to hang Hyrum’s artwork from:
The goal of the playroom was to make it a fun-looking place without painting it a bright color that I would have to paint back again once we move. There is still more I’d like to do in there, but with limited funds and time I’m not sure it’s going to happen.
Pretty much I made everything in this post with supplies I already had, gifts, finds from my mom from garage sales, and some paper and canvas bought for cheap from Wal-Mart or Michael’s (with coupons and on sale). It’s been a lot of work but I like the result!
Your house is so cute! I'm excited to paint and pick colors for our little home now.
ReplyDeleteYes of course I remember those frames :). I recognized them in the picture before you even identified them. I'm so jealous you live in a house...
