Savili, my sister-in-law, contacted me and my sister sometime earlier this summer to see if we wanted to throw a surprise party in honor of my parents’ 60th birthdays this year. I thought it was a great idea! And so, in August, we did it.
I was in charge of the centerpieces and cookies (pumpkin chocolate chip for Dad and sugar for Mom) for the celebration. Here’s what I did for the centerpieces:
I made close to 200 cookies for the event, so it’s a good thing I like to bake. I also made 40 tissue pom-poms and printed out and found a bunch of pictures of my parents and added them to the tables:
We did a luau (of course), so Savili did some awesome decorating for the event:
All of my Martin nieces and nephew danced for the party, plus my cousin, and Savili’s brother’s family, and even Savili got in on it (she did awesome)!
My niece did the special Samoan dance. She is getting very good with her Polynesian dancing. I can’t believe how old she’s getting too!
My sister made a video of all of us kids and grandkids and most of their siblings saying what we love about them and a favorite memory or two of them. It was a really nice video.
The performers plus the guests of honor:
Most of the attendees:
My parents were VERY surprised, which made it pretty fun, and I think they really liked it!
