Cora calls ladybugs “baby bugs” and insists that she is right with calling them that. I think it’s adorable
I got my hair cut short this month! I am loving it, though I have to do it every day or it looks kind of ridiculous:
Hyrum also started soccer this month, and he’s doing better than last year. There are no tears or convincing him to go to practices or games, probably mostly because he has 3 friends from our ward on his team. So that is a blessing and a curse. He loves it, but we spend all of practice and all of the game yelling to him to stop playing with his friends and to try to get the ball. But it gets him exercising!
Hyrum’s prayers are sometimes pretty entertaining; here’s a couple snippets: “Please protect us from monsters,” “Bless us to bless the food,” and “Help Daddy to get home safe” even though he’s sitting right there at the dinner table. When we pointed that out, he said, “it’s for tomorrow when he comes home.”
In trying to improve Hyrum’s soccer skills, Ryan built this goal for them to use when they practice at home. Hyrum loves it and it gets them both out there practicing one or two times a week:
Cora has started calling all children around her age “Dora,” which is how she says her name. Apparently since all women are “Mommy” to her, and all men are “Daddy,” then all kids her age are Cora. She’ll say to her friend, “Come on, Dora!” even though her friend is a little boy. Pretty cute.
Hyrum has been earning money around the house by dusting or mopping or pulling weeds, and he LOVES the coins he gets. He has a little piggy bank in his room, and about once a day I can find him in there with the door closed, having dumped out all his money and counting it. We joke he’ll be a little miser, since he loves to count his money so much!
