September 2015

We went to the zoo again this month, and this time we even got to ride the train! We’ve been there five or six times now and still haven’t seen it all!

Zane can do patty cake on his own now and will sometimes even blow kisses!

We gave the kids their own copy of the Book of Mormon this month, and when Hyrum got his, he said, “yes!” and was so excited about it he kept telling everyone about it and kept it with him for a couple of days.

Zane started to pull up on things this month and has finally started to get the hang of his baby signing- he does “more” and “all-done,” though sometimes he does them just to see us stop or try to give him more.

There was a BYU-Nebraska game this month, and we got to go to a friend’s house to watch. We supported BYU, of course, and bravely wore our BYU shirts around town before the game. We ended up getting our lunch at a restaurant paid for by someone else that was accompanied by a note saying, “GBR!” (Go Big Red). It was an amazing game, with a Hail Mary pass that got BYU to win the game!

On Labor Day this year we went raspberry picking with some friends. The kids loved it! Then we had some homemade pizza and homemade ice cream at home with fresh raspberries on top. It was great fun! I love that we can pick raspberries at a farm about 10 minutes from our house!

Zane loves screens, as these pictures show. He also has a battle-cry or a dinosaur screech that he started this month!

Cora is my super little helper lately- she wants to do everything I do and she wants to do it by herself. She always wants to feed Zane, so one morning I let her. Here’s how he looked afterwards:

Cora’s nursery leader told me that Cora is the sharer in her nursery class- and I’m proud of my peacekeeping little girl! She really gets along with everyone and is such a sweet little thing. She really loves her baby brother too, and has played with him a lot more since Hyrum started school. One day she came up to me while I was holding him, whispered, “true love’s kiss,” and gave Zane a little kiss on his forehead. So sweet!

I got called to be in charge of the extra Relief Society meetings pretty soon after we moved into the ward, and here is a picture of my first full-blown activity- “Getting to Know You.” I think it turned out awesome and a lot of the ladies loved it. I am so glad I have such a great committee that makes it easy to do my calling!

Zane loves his big brother, and Hyrum is a great help and a great brother. When a group of us got together to watch Cinderella, Hyrum asked Cora to dance with him while Cinderella and the Prince danced. It was such a sweet moment! He is also such a friendly boy- when a girl in Hyrum’s primary class said she didn’t have anyone to play with at recess, Hyrum said, “look for me! I’ll play with you!”

Zane said his first word this month, “muh-muh”= mama= me! I think I’m three for three now with Mama being the kids’ first real word Smile

Hyrum had a random Friday off of school this month, so we went to the Children’s Museum. The kids loved it! Cora loved the grocery store part, Hyrum liked the bank part, and Zane loved the baby area.

Here we are at another of Hyrum’s T-ball games! He’s doing really well with it, though he says the games are too long. Hyrum and Cora were cleaning up their toys in the basement one day when I came down and heard Hyrum singing “A Child’s Prayer.” He told me, “I’m singing church songs because it helps us clean better!”

My parents came into town the last weekend in September and took the kids to Chuck-E-Cheese to celebrate Hyrum’s birthday the next week. This one seemed a little more ghetto than the one in Tucson, but still had lots to do for little kids!

The Sunday was my mom’s birthday, so we got to celebrate with her! I made her a nice breakfast and dinner (which we ate outside in our gazebo in the beautiful weather), and we ended with some yummy filled cupcakes as the birthday girl requested. Happy birthday, Mom!

My parents also let Hyrum pick out whatever toys he wanted at the store for his birthday, and not-surprisingly, he chose Ninjago Legos:

Hyrum got an award at school this month for being a Word Star, which meant he knew all his kindergarten sight words. We also had parent-teacher conference, where his teacher told us that Hyrum was way ahead in reading- he’s reading at an end of first grade level. She also said he is like a little sponge- immediately applying what he’s taught. His behavior has also been great, which is a great relief to me! I am proud of our smart, hard-working boy!

In non-kid news, Ryan has been a great help fixing things around our house lately. He fixed a hose on our car, and then replaced the garbage disposal all by himself! I’m proud of Ryan too!

I asked Cora what she wants to be when she grows up, and she answered, “A big Ariel. No, CInderella, because she’s big.”
