Hyrum turned 6 recently, and we had a great time celebrating him! The day before his birthday, we made the frosting for his cupcakes together, and he loved it so much, he ate a ton of frosting right off the spoon! This was an amazing feat to me, since this is maybe the first time I’ve ever seen him eat chocolate frosting, and him eating frosting at all is still a new-ish thing. Yay for starting to be less picky!
The night before his birthday, he was so excited he couldn’t sleep. He remembered that we put balloons in his room while he was sleeping last year, so apparently he thought this was a tradition since he kept telling us, “I know you’re going to put balloons in my room tonight!” We hadn’t planned on that being a tradition, but now it is! He actually woke up while we were putting the balloons in, but he is so out of it at night that he totally didn’t remember or even notice the balloons until he woke up in the morning. He was up plenty early on his birthday, 6 am, and was bouncing off the walls excited! These were the decorations he requested:
And the breakfast he wanted- crepes with strawberries and chocolate chips, and chocolate milk. He actually hardly ate because he was SO excited about his presents and that it was his birthday!
Then, the presents! Before the sun had even come up! He got Ninjago Legos from Grandma and Grandpa Schuetzler and some from us, a Ninjago book, some transformers, a new bow tie (that’s all he’ll wear to church anymore), some new pajamas, and a new paw patrol pup.
At school, he brought Ring Pops for everyone and they sang to him. I got to have lunch with Hyrum at school and brought him a McDonald’s happy meal. His teacher gave him this fun hat and some candy made into a balloon. And he got to wear a sticker that said, “Happy Birthday Hyrum” so lots of people wished him Happy Birthday!
After school, Hyrum got to put some of his Legos together, then we went to Pizza Ranch for dinner. After dinner, we picked up some friends and went to a bounce house place, where they had 4 large bounce activities. The kids loved it!
After the bouncing, everyone came to our house where we had Ninjago chocolate cupcakes, sang to Hyrum, and then played a fishing game that Hyrum got from one of his friends. It was a great, low-stress, high-fun night!
Hyrum had a great birthday!
