Zane began crawling on his knees (instead of army crawl) all the time now, and has also started cruising after he pulls himself to stand. He can get into a lot more things now!
When the Schuetzlers came to visit this month, Hyrum got to ride in their car most of the time. Once Grandpa Schuetzler was parking in our driveway and had to park pretty close to the edge due to all the cars there. Hyrum got out, saw how close Grandpa was to the edge, and said, “Grandpa, you’re a bad driver!”
We had many trips to the zoo this month, but here is a picture of all three kids there!
Cora discovered the joy of jumping in leaf piles this month. She also refuses to wear jackets and shoes most days when she goes outside, even though it’s around 60 degrees. I had to sneakily put away her summer wear because she kept insisting on wearing it, even though it’s cold outside!
I told Cora she was a cutie pie one night before bed, and she told me, “I’m a QT, not a cutie pie, because I only have one ‘q’ in my name.” I told her she doesn’t have a ‘q’ in her name, so she said, “I’ll just pretend I have one.”
As soon as Zane sees that the bathroom door is open, he crawls there as fast as he can, pulls to standing on the toilet, and sticks his hand in the water. Gross! He’s fast, so I don’t always catch him in time, and the kids are still learning to keep the bathroom door closed.
The kids love to swing!
This adorable girl likes to say what she thinks. As we were walking down the street in Old Market Omaha one evening, she stopped on the sidewalk, pointed her finger at a woman with an afro and said loudly, “She has BIG hair!” Luckily, the lady laughed about it as I pulled Cora to the car and said, “yes, isn’t it pretty?” hoping that would smooth the situation. At least it was true and not really mean! (She did a similar thing later, except with pointing at an older woman and calling her a man. We have since had a chat about not pointing and talking about people).
Cora has been able to play with Zane a lot more lately now that he’s bigger, and she’s pretty good at making him laugh!
Here’s another trip to the zoo that we took with our Friday morning playgroup. This girl loves to pose!
Cora has started “reading” books to me this month. Her favorites to read to me are “Brown Bear, Brown Bear,” and “Peanut Butter Rhino.” She has them both pretty well memorized!
For a different playgroup this month, we went to the Children’s Museum with Cora’s friend!
Worn out after lots of playing at the Children’s Museum:
Our trees in the back and the front had some gorgeous red leaves this month! I just couldn’t look out at them enough!
Hyrum finished up his T-ball this month, and he did great! He paid attention a lot better, threw further, and hit harder than ever before! We are proud of him!
Family jam session:
Hyrum had his primary program this month, and he did great! I kind of forgot all about it, so I had him memorize his part the morning before church and he still remembered it for the program! He made Ryan and I laugh, because during every song, Hyrum kept yawning these giant yawns- like multiple times per song. I guess he was tired??
I started my rotation for the preschool this month, and it was great fun because I got to do Halloween! So we had fun snacks and crafts:
I also taught the kids the “5 Little Pumpkins” poem, and Hyrum and Cora liked re-enacting it with their puppets later:
Hyrum told me, “you can’t buy a mountain, because you couldn’t bring it home. It would crush your house!”
One of Zane’s favorite games this month was to crawl up a few stairs and wait for someone to see him there. Then when we’d come to get him (he can’t get down yet), and he’d crawl up as fast as he could to try to get away!
Zane will always get into two things around our new house: the cover of a vent in the kitchen that comes off, and removing every rubber tip from any door stoppers he can find and then putting them in his mouth. Crazy boy! He’s also pretty good with his light-saber:
