Hyrum got to go to quite a few birthday parties this month, including one at a bounce-U!

Cora falls asleep in strange places sometimes, since she fights her nap but then can’t make it through quiet time without falling asleep:

Zane has become our tornado of destruction this month. He learned how to reach doorknobs and pull them, pull things out of both the trash and recycling bins, go through all cupboards, and pull toilet paper off the roll.

Cora is learning so much in preschool, it’s awesome! She can now write her name plus most other letters, and knows a lot of the letter sounds!

Cora has picked up some new phrases this month like, “what the huh?” and “Oh my gosh!” which is said repeatedly as she looks at toys at the store in a catalog. Here’s an angsty threenager selfie she took of herself:

Hyrum LOVES non-fiction books lately (he learned the difference between fiction and non-fiction at school recently). All he picks to bring home from his school and classroom libraries are non-fiction lately. We’ve learned about bugs, raccoons, snakes, and growing vegetables. Here’s Hyrum’s selfie:

At recess, Hyrum plays Girl’s Club and Boy’s Club. It apparently involves trying to get someone of the opposite gender into your club, or are of the playground, before recess is over. He’s also started spelling out a lot of his words lately (learned from school as well). Like, I’ll say, “Hyrum do you want to check the mail with me?” His answer: “Y-e-s.”

Hyrum drew on a paper at church one Sunday that had different columns that you could write how to serve different people in your family. Under serving parents, he put “wash dishes.” Under brother and sister he put “play” and “play too.” Under grandparents, he put “sleep,” meaning let them sleep in when they come to visit, because he always has to wait awhile after he wakes up to go get grandma and grandpa when they visit!

This month Zane was seen standing on his own for short periods of time, going down stairs on his own very well, and pointing at things all over the place.

Cora and I made purple mashed potatoes this month from purple potatoes Ryan’s parents grew in their garden. It was soooo cool!

Cora: “I like to share my testimony, (said in the sing-songy way the kids talk when they’re bearing their testimonies) I like to share my toys…”

I finished my preschool rotation for Cora’s preschool co-op this month, and we went on our field trip to an ice cream shop where they could see them make ice cream!

Hyrum, while coloring in his Color By Numbers book (said in the way they say it in Reading Rainbow when introducing a book): “Color by numbers, illustrated by me.”
Aunt Meagan: Hyrum, are you getting coal for Christmas?
Hyrum: No, I already have him. I actually have two. (meaning two Coles minifigures from Ninjago)

When Zane is sleepy, he will put his head on your shoulder to let you know. That was not the case here, where he had learned to pull books off the bookcase and then proceed to pull pages out of books. He does this all the time.

We had our first snow in Omaha this month! It was great!!

Isn’t Ryan cute?

Cora pretends she has a sister all the time lately. Her doll is her sister, her friend is her sister, or even just an imaginary someone is her sister. I think she’s trying to tell me something.
