This was our first Christmas at our own home in the eight years that Ryan and I have been married! We have travelled to visit family for all of our other ones, so it was a new experience doing everything with only our little family.
For Christmas Eve, we made homemade soft pretzels with each of us having our initial, plus some candy cane twists. We ate them, along with chocolate milk and veggies, as an indoor picnic by the light of our Christmas tree. Then we acted out the nativity. I was the angel, Cora was Mary, Hyrum was Joseph:
Ryan was a shepherd, holding his little sheep (Zane), as represented by the stuffed sheep Zane was holding:
Then me and Hyrum were wise men, and we brought the baby doll some gifts. As we acted out this actual event, I felt strongly as I spoke the words of the angel, that Jesus Christ is a gift to the whole world, and because of Him, we can all have joy!
Then we watched the nativity video, and we tried to bear our testimonies, but the kids were pretty wired so I’m not sure it got through. But it was a special night! Then we opened our Christmas Eve gifts: pajamas and ornaments. We all got changed right away, and the kids pretended to be Ironman and Ariel as their pajamas had on them. Hyrum got a Green Ninja Lego ornament, Cora got an Ariel ornament, and Zane got a Z with a jingle bell. Ryan and I got a Lego ornament and a Mickey ears hat ornament. Hyrum said this was his favorite ornament ever!
Here Ryan and I are, waiting for Santa. Typical:
Christmas morning! Hyrum was up at 3:15, 3:25, 3:35, and 3:45 before he finally fell back asleep and we were able to wait until 5:45 am to open presents! The kids’ stockings:
Zane’s present from Santa- squishy, pull-back cars:
Cora’s present from Santa- Elsa castle!
Hyrum’s present from Santa- Bad Cop Lego set!
Ryan and I opened presents too:
The kids got all sorts of fun toys that they played with the whole day. We had a pretty relaxing day since the kids were so into their new toys!
After a nap for me, we went sledding, since we had gotten a ton of snow on Christmas Eve! It was so magical!
The kids loved sledding, but Zane hated it, so he was mostly held on the side while Ryan and I traded off sledding with the kids:
Christmas dinner!
After dinner, the kids changed into pajamas, we grabbed some popcorn, and we drove around and did a Christmas light scavenger hunt. Hyrum said it was the best thing ever and he was so excited to find the Grinch!
We really had a great Christmas this year!
