Zane has started handing things back and forth to you, as well as putting things in and out of other things. He’s also a super messy eater!
Love this guy:
Hyrum’s version of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”- “Walking around on Christmas Eve”
Hyrum’s new words: Dada and Nana= banana or any yummy food.
He’s started sippy cups and has been cut off of bottles, because the bottles got everywhere, including Zane’s face:
We saw Star Wars! It was awesome!
We all matched last Sunday
Cora is totally my little helper! She wants to do everything I’m doing, including vaccuuming. She doesn’t like to wear long pants, jackets, hats, or snow pants. I guess that’s what happens when you’re born in AZ!
Cora loves Zane and has ever started trying to read to him:
Hyrum and his friend who lives next door had big plans to trap Santa, so they could keep all the toys, but then they were going to help him deliver toys too, so that makes it better. And even better than that, him and his friend also decided to give Santa and Mrs. Clause a gift. They wrapped up a plastic dinosaur with some jingle bells and tried to glue it to my wall so he would see it!
Grandpa and Grandma Martin came to visit us, and they gave Zane his birthday gift- a ride-on Lightning McQueen! He loves it, especially when his siblings push him around on it or he can push it around to walk:
Grandma also gave Zane his first sucker:
Cora has started to tell us she doesn’t like a show or a movie, because it has a part in it where something bad happens. Gotta tell you kid, every show has something bad happen in it, or it isn’t really a show!
Listening to Christmas music in the car, Hyrum asked what pa-rum-pum-pum-pum meant. I told him it was supposed to sound like a drum, and he said, “drums don’t sound like that! This is a weird song.”
Zane has taken a couple of steps now, under coercion, but we are really trying to get him walking by himself all the time!
Grandma and Grandpa Martin also brought some Christmas presents when they came, and the kids were excited to open some presents early!
They did leave a couple wrapped for them to open on Christmas, and it made Hyrum a little crazy. So crazy, that he wrote this letter to Grandma Martin:
I was in charge of the refreshments for our Young Women in Excellence in December, and the theme was FROG (fully Rely On God), so we made some fun frog treats:
We had some great snow this month! Cora and I went out and played in it one morning, and made a snowman!
And wrote her name:
The night before Christmas Hyrum kept saying he wouldn’t get out of bed if he heard a clatter, because he didn’t want Santa to fall off the roof (we watched The Santa Clause this month). On Christmas morninghe said he didn’t even hear a clatter!
After we watched the nativity video online, Hyrum asked why Mary couldn’t name her baby whatever she wanted (since the angel told her to name her baby Jesus). We explained the reason why to him (the name was prophesied), but I still found it funny!
We celebrated my birthday this month! My parents took us to Texas Roadhouse while they were here. On my actual birthday, no one was sick and Ryan was in town, so it was the best birthday I’ve had in a long time! Ryan and the kids made me breakfast in bed, Ryan took me clothes shopping at the mall, I got some alone time shopping with no guilt, we got to go to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, and I got a yummy Cold Stone ice cream cake and beautiful flowers! It was a really great day
Hyrum and Zane had fun sliding down the stairs, and we discovered Hyrum can give Cora a real piggy-back ride now!
Over New Year’s Eve dinner, we asked the kids what their favorite part of dinner was- she said the dinner we were having right then. Way to live in the moment Cora!
Zane has started dancing this month, and it’s adorable! He also pats your back when he’s cuddling you right before bed.
After the big snow on Christmas Eve!
Playing with Magformers (I love their pose here!):
Snow angels on New Year’s Eve!
