Ryan bought a lot of little rubber ducks so his students have someone to talk to when they’re programming, and he set a row of them to watch outside his office window:
Ryan also put together out network system in the basement this month, something he’s been dreaming about for awhile:
Selfies:
This month Ivy started to open and shut her mouth repeatedly to tell us when she was hungry. She’s making up her own baby sign language!
We had one nice afternoon this month, so we took advantage for a family bike ride/walk:
Ivy started saying “all done” this month by saying “Duh-dune.” She also started signing more.
And Ivy wants to do what Zane does:
I think the kids have played outside more this winter and spring than all last summer, and I think it’s because there’s no bugs out yet (which they are deathly afraid of):
Zane likes to have us look at hands to prove that people are who they say they are, like, “me not a king, look at my hands! I’m Zane!”
We worked a lot more on potty training this month, and Zane likes to say, while he’s sitting on the toilet, “squeeze me leally, leally hard to make the poop come out!” He thinks if I give him a big enough hug, I can help on the toilet. Sorry, bud, it doesn’t work that way. He did, however, earn this Batman toy!
When Zane takes pictures with my phone, he likes to take a picture of me first, then he wants me to take a picture of him from far away:
We had parent-teacher conference this month (both kids are doing awesome!), and we got to see some of their artwork hanging in the halls!
Ryan and I went on a date to Jake and Buster’s and we had a fun time playing arcade games together!
Cora got a new notebook at the book fair at school, and it had a few pages with the heading, “Don’t forget!” She wrote us a few notes of things to not forget, including this gem: Do not forget to do the dishes daddy:
Hyrum started private swim lessons this month in the hopes that he will be an independent swimmer this summer! I think he’s almost there!
It was Spring Break this month, and since the kids’ Spring Break and Ryan’s Spring Break did not coincide, we couldn’t do any fun trips or anything, so we just planned some fun things to do close to home.
One day we decorated some slime at Michael’s, painted a rainbow with mini marshmallows for St. Patrick’s Day, and drew pictures on our back doors all for craft day:
We went to Pizza Ranch another day:
Another day we went to the zoo:
Another day we went to the library for storytime and some play time:
And we went swimming another day:
We also had a friend day and a video game day (which was their favorite day of Spring Break, I think). It was a pretty fun week and even though we didn’t travel anywhere, I think the kids had a great time.
I am a pluviophile, and one day it was amazing to just take a short walk in the pouring rain to this view:
Hyrum had his first Pinewood Derby in March! Ryan helped him at the wood shop with shaping his car as he had designed:
The night of the derby, Hyrum did better in some races than others, but I think he enjoyed the experience regardless.
He also won the award for the “Best Use of Color”- it was pretty easy to spot his bright green car!
Chalk drawings (Zane’s and Cora’s were butterflies, Hyrum’s was the 24 Hours of Le Mans, aka a super long track for a car):
Cora and I went on our date this month to HuHot for dinner and then to paint ceramics. She painted a mug, and I painted a little owl. It was so fun to spend some one-on-one time with her!
