We went to Arizona for Spring Break this year! We got to see the Glen Canyon Dam on our drive down- and while I was a little too nervous to walk all the way over the bridge, Ryan and the kids loved checking it out!
Car shenanigans:
On one of our days we went to the Falcon Field air museum between General Conference sessions, where we checked out some cool planes:
Hyrum got to watch his first priesthood session of General Conference, and had a hard time staying awake after such a busy day:
But Ryan and Hyrum still got to go out for some ice cream afterwards:Ryan had to fly back to UT the next day, because he had class to teach, so we definitely missed him.
There was also the hot tub after, because the pool was still pretty cold!
The kids (and Ryan) loved the slide and diving board too:
The kids even got to swim with cousins one day!
Ivy and her little cousin had a great time together, and they were so cute together! One morning I found a scorpion in one of the sinks in the bathroom- it's the first wild scorpion I've ever seen, even though I lived there for 25 years! Pretty terrifying, but the kids also thought it was cool to look at.
We very briefly got to meet up with some friends from high school/BYU days!
I promised Hyrum we could go to Panera while in Arizona, since it's his favorite restaurant and UT is the only state in the contiguous United States that doesn't have one!
My sister and I got to go out one evening and get some two-handed corn dogs while my mom took all the kids and some cousins out to a movie:
Actually, that night there was a movie mix-up, where my mom was at the wrong theater and missed the movie. So she took the kids to the store where they each got to pick out something fun. Then she took them to the movie the next day instead. Here's Cora in some of the gear she got:
Our last full day in Mesa, we got to hang out with some cousins again and go dune buggying/motorcycling:
Ivy and her cousin also enjoyed driving some remote cars:
The dune buggy ended up breaking down, but my dad fixed it, so the kids had a ton of fun driving it down their street. Both Cora and Hyrum had a turn driving, and they LOVED it! In fact. dune buggying and motorcycling was all the kids' favorite part of the trip (as well as petting my parents' cat, Princess).
Our last morning there, my parents took the kids shooting. The older three (and me) all had a chance to shoot the gun!Ivy was a bit too little to shoot a gun, so she hung out in the car eating snacks:
We had a ton of fun visiting Mesa!
