March 2024

Google's Then and Now- they've grown so much!!

I finished up some painting this month! Here is a before and after picture of the wall in our living room:

Hyrum qualified for the state swim meet this short course season, and he got to swim in it in March! He qualified in the 500 and 1650 free, and he swam two other bonus events (100 and 50 free). He ended up placing 17th in the state in the 1650 free! Go Hyrum!

We were lucky that both grandparents were able to come watch him for this amazing accomplishment, though we were only able to get pictures with Grandma and Grandpa Martin. He did so great and we are SO proud!

Grandma and Grandpa Martin even got him this custom state hoodie:

And we took him out to breakfast to celebrate how well he did! I think he ended up eating almost all of this food:

Grandma and Grandpa Martin took Cora out for birthday shopping while they were in town, and she got some stylish stuff:

Ivy and Cora had two cheer competitions this month, and they did amazing at both! The first one was up near SLC on the same day as Hyrum's state swim meet, so we were glad Grandma and Grandpa Schuetzler were able to help come time Hyrum's event for him since I had to be with the girls at cheer.

Ivy's team did so well! Love her sass:

She got a special cotton candy treat while we waited for awards:

Her team won grand champion again!

Cora's team also did amazing! Cora is so fun to watch out there on the mat:

Cora got some strawberries and chocolate while she waited for her event:

Her team also won grand champion!

It started snowing like crazy during Cora's part of the competition, which we weren't really prepared for, so we were all covered in snow just getting from the venue to the car and then we had a long, somewhat scary drive home in the snow, but we made it!

Ryan and I tried out a The Yard milkshake on a date this month, and it was fine, but definitely not worth the price we paid... But being together is always fun!

Cute kids with their fun dad:

More snow this month! We were even able to make a pretty good snowman this time:

Hyrum has a pretty great pin board in his room, filled with a lot of his creations:

Zane had his last basketball game this month! He did so great!

After the last game the team met up at Dairy Queen:

Mindi and Bryan came for a quick weekend this month, and they brought the girls some fun Lego sets as birthday presents!

Making our flag to show God's love and our testimonies for a FHE this month:

Cora is learning to french braid her own hair!

We went to go help Grandma and Grandpa Schuetzler move in one day, and while I don't think we helped much, the kids had fun cleaning/skating on their new floors!

We also finally got to try the famous Aggie ice cream:

We also had a very sick month. Basically, we didn't have the whole household healthy at once for more than 5 days at a time from just after Christmas until the beginning of April. It was pretty awful. Hopefully we're done with that.

Another fun date night together at a place new to us:

Zane was so proud of this stack of coins:

Hyrum looked pretty cool all ready for his orchestra festival this month:

Zane and Cora both had their Battle of the Books battles this month, and they both did amazing! I'm so proud of how hard they both worked and how much reading they both did. Zane's team made it to the semi-final, and after a tied regular round only lost by one question in the tie-breakers! So basically, his team tied for 3rd place. Here they are in that final battle:

Cora's team made it to the finals, and they also only lost by one question, so her team finished second overall! She loved it so much, I might have to get her jr high to start BoB so she can keep going!

Ivy learned to ride her bike this month! It only took one time of me taking her out, and one time of Ryan taking her out for her to get it! She was so scared to try, and now she loves riding her bike- it's one of her very favorite things to do!

The girls had their last competition of the cheer season at the end of this month, and again, they both did amazing! This one was at the Salt Palace, so Ivy got to walk around the shops and things while she waited for awards. She especially loved the shop named Ivy:

We also met up with a lot of her team to get yummy food at Cheesecake Factory!

Her team got Grand Champions again and was the golden ticket winner (meaning they would have gotten into the big championship meet in Las Vegas for free)!

We got to watch Cora's team compete as well, and her team did awesome! They missed first place by half a point, which Cora tells me was actually a mistake as her coach talked to the judges about it afterwards and the judges agreed they were scored wrong.

Zane learned to tie a tie at his primary activity this month!

Zane also competed in the school district's Knowledge Bowl this month, and him and his team did so well! They were in the top ten of teams overall, and there were like 30-40 teams!

I got to go to the assembly where they honored Zane's Knowledge Bowl team, and I lucked out to see Cora doing her student council thing during it:

She was also in a pretty funny student council video I got to see as well. Here they are honoring my cute boy at the assembly:

I am so proud of Zane and all his hard work and play time sacrificed to get ready for knowledge bowl!

Ryan went to Tucson for a conference this month and had a fun time scoping out all our old haunts, like El Guero Canelo with its delicious (to Ryan) Sonoran hot dogs:

Ryan also saw the Tucson temple, which he hadn't seen yet since the rest of us went to Tucson without him last year:

Back at his old school!

Ryan was also in charge of an alumni conference at BYU this month, and though it was a very stretching experience for him, he did great!

Tricia was pretty busy with all the kids' activities and PTA things. PTA had their spring book fair, and that week Tricia worked (as a volunteer) about 40 hours!
