Happy Fourth of July! We spent it this year in Mesa with my family shopping, having yummy food, swimming, and watching fireworks.
Grandma and Grandpa Martin got this this little electric car and Hyrum LOVES driving it around their backyard!
Hyrum saw Cars for the first time this month, and he LOVED it. In fact, he has seen it at least five times this month, probably more. Because he loved it, I bought him a little Lightning McQueen (Mi-Wi) and Mater (Rar-rar). He loves to carry one in each hand and they always have to be together or else he’s asking for the other one incessantly.
Later he started watching the Toy Story movies and now loves those too. He got Buzz Lightyear (Buzz) and Woody (Wuh-ee) toys from Grandma and Grandpa Martin at Disneyland and does the same thing with those two. One in each hand, and they always have to be together.
Hyrum will now repeat prayers and likes to bless the food at dinner time, and it’s so cute! The first few times when Ryan told him to repeat “please” (like please bless the food), he would sign the word “please” instead of saying it. He also never makes it to saying “Christ” when he says “in the name of Jesus Christ, amen” because he gets so excited to say ‘amen’.
Hyrum calls a towel on his head “hat.”
Hyrum took swimming lessons at the beginning of this month (like a mommy and me class) but I’m not sure he liked it much. The water was always a little cold at the beginning so he would say no for the beginning of every lesson the first week. He did love to jump in the pool from the side and would just laugh when I would try to make him do bubbles. Maybe next year, right?
Swimming with Grandma!
Hyrum gets to choose our activity for Family Home Evening every Monday, and he always chooses the same thing: Ring Around the Rosie.
Hyrum got a little plastic dog pull toy for his first birthday. He really loves that thing (named Doggy) and treats it like it’s alive. He likes to feed it what he’s eating, set it on my lap so it can read with us, and today Doggy also took meds, just like Hyrum. Other times he tries to give the dog a ball to put in his mouth, or shows Doggy the garden.
Bubble time!
