On Christmas Eve we had a big dinner, followed by the nativity play.
I was able to get backstage to take some pictures of the actors before their show. Hyrum and JJ were the wise men:
Hyrum really wanted to be an angel after he chose to be a wise man, but really only because Siona was one:
Ryan was Samuel the Lamanite:
Samuel, Joseph (played by Ammon), a shepherd (played by Leslie), an angel and some wise men.
Ryan REALLY got into being Samuel the Lamanite. He used some of his moves he learned from watching the Manti pageant.
I’m pretty sure the wise men weren’t supposed to be in the scene where Mary first puts her newborn son (played by Maya) in the manger, but Hyrum had a hard time staying out of the spotlight.
The angels bring the shepherd the good news!

And Hyrum was so good to actually bring the baby his gift! I think he’s got some acting skills ;)
After the nativity, there was a special visit from Santa! Now Hyrum had had a good experience with Santa at the zoo, but had freaked out when he came at the ward party, so I wasn’t sure how he would act with this visit on Christmas Eve. As you can see, he was again freaking out:
But then Santa (or Hyrum’s mother) had a good idea- why not pull out an iPod and play Angry Birds on it? That got Hyrum to be happy with Santa:
And we all went to sleep!
