Tucson Christmas Activities

We did a lot of fun things here in Tucson during the Christmas season. I love all of the fun Christmas activities and traditions we do in December!

Hyrum got to sit on Santa’s lap at the ward Christmas party, but he wouldn’t smile for the picture and he wouldn’t talk to Santa. When we later tried to visit Santa at the mall, Hyrum wouldn’t even get close to him. But still, this is progress.

Cora did just fine!

Here’s our cute little fake Christmas tree. It’s all we need for now, since we’re never actually home for Christmas. Hyrum really enjoyed decorating it with us this year! He would plug in the lights as soon as he woke up every morning and would keep plugging them back in whenever I unplugged them. I just decided to let him have the lights on the tree on all day eventually.

Hyrum wrote his first letter to Santa this year! Ok, I wrote it but he told me what to say and he decorated it with stickers:

We went to the Zoo Lights again this year, but this time we went with some friends. It was a blast! They had some ballerinas from a local dance studio performing parts of the Nutcracker, so of course we had to sit and watch (considering I was in the Nutcracker for like 10 years!). I loved it! And even better, Hyrum loved it! He was mesmerized. Maybe he will be the one to take me to theater and ballet performances Smile

We rode the train again, and I got to go too:

We also went to the Christmas lights at Winterhaven, and they were awesome! It is a neighborhood here in Tucson who pretty much all have these crazy, extravagant light displays and tons of people come walk through it every year. They even have horse-drawn carriages, prizes, and fake snow. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any pictures because both Ryan and Hyrum refused.

One of the last things we did before we left for Mesa/North Dakota was make gingerbread houses. I couldn’t find one in any of the stores I went to (probably they were all gone due to my slacker-ness), so we did it the old-fashioned way out of graham crackers and candy we had around the house.

Here’s mine and Hyrum’s:
