I was not good at all about writing down cute things the kids did or said this month, but I think I have some pretty good excuses: new baby, Christmas, my birthday, New Years, and Ryan out of town for a few weeks. I’m already doing better for January!
We were able to meet up with some friends from high school when we went to Mesa for Christmas:
Zane’s newborn pictures (I thought they turned out so cute!). He was 1.5 weeks old when these were taken. He’s making an “ooh” face in the last two because he had his binky in and we pulled it our right before the picture to keep him happy :
Zane’s first bath! He didn’t love it, that’s for sure:
Cora and Hyrum LOVE Zane. They always want to hold him and talk to him and look at him. Hyrum is constantly trying to hold his hand, while Cora keeps forcefully trying to turn his head so he’ll look at her (I think he turns away from her because her hair gets in his face). If they’re eating at the table, they want Zane’s rocker right between them so they can both look at him while they eat. They love putting in his binky, getting his diapers and blankets, and giving him lots of hugs and kisses (especially Cora). They sing to him, songs like “I Am A Child of God,” “ABCs,” “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” and the constant, can’t-get-rid-of-it favorite at this house, “Let It Go.”
She’s a cute present (we were working on a Christmas wreath)!
Zane being burped and loved on by Grandma Martin:
Our Christmas tree! The kids were very impatient to wait for Daddy to get home from his business trip to Omaha to put up the Christmas tree and ornaments together. For Christmas this year, Zane got his 1st Christmas ornament, Cora got an Elsa ornament, Hyrum got a Wolverine ornament, and me and Ryan got a bear ornament in honor of our trip to Bear World this summer (which Ryan didn’t go to).
I did do some fun stuff with the kids this month, like painting! Like I said earlier, Ryan went on 2 trips in December. That’s right, he had to fly to OMaha just a week and a half after Zane was born, and I was left with 2 children and a newborn for a few days (my parents came the last day). Then he went to New Zealand a week after that (Zane at 2.5 weeks) for a week for a conference. I survived though! I have so many amazing friends here in Tucson, they really helped me through it! And great parents always ready to come help whenever I need. I am very blessed
This month Hyrum has started writing cute notes for us and his friends. Things like, “I miss u Dade Luv Hyrum.” And, “I love you Mommy Love Hyrum.” He then puts them in envelopes and writes on the outside ‘To’ and ‘From’.
Zane is still a great sleeper and generally a non-fussy baby, especially since I started supplementing his feedings. He started to coo and smile this month, which makes the whole newborn thing very rewarding! He is pretty squirmy when he’s awake, which makes me wonder if he will be all about moving as soon as possible, like Hyrum was.
Zane cuddling the baby kiwi toy Ryan brought him home from New Zealand:
It’s been pretty fun dressing my little guy (especially since he’s the only one of my kids who doesn’t fight when I try to pick out something cute for him to wear!):
Cora thinks burp rags are blankets. And Zane loves to sleep on Ryan’s belly:
Dress-up at Grandma’s!
The boys got matching ties for Christmas, and Hyrum LOVES matching Zane and Daddy. We girls took a picture too:
And, duck faces. Because it’s fun!
