April 2015

Ryan shaved his beard at the beginning of this month. Yay! He also defended his dissertation, and passed with only minor revisions. We are so proud of him!

One night Hyrum decided to save time in the morning by wearing his clothes for the next day under his pajamas (he got the idea from his friend):

Hyrum has started to give me kisses all over my face before he goes to bed at night. It makes me laugh so hard every time! Hyrum also got his haircut this month, and even had a mohawk along the way:

After Hyrum got in trouble one morning and I was talking to him about it after he had spent some time in his room for a time-out, he told me through his tears, “I wanted a no minute time-out!”

Ryan teaches Sunday School at the local prison every week, but sometimes no one is there to teach and he comes home early. One Sunday I could hear that Ryan was home early, so I told Hyrum that Daddy was home early because there hadn’t been any prisoners in his class today. He asked, “Why, did they all escape?”

Zane has really started to grab at everything lately- nothing close to him is safe! He also always starts chewing on his fist when Ryan picks him up. I think he knows automatically that he’ll need his best coping mechanism when Daddy starts to play with him!

I taught our traditional Easter lesson the Sunday before Easter, that talks all about the Atonement and the Crucifixion and the events surrounding those. I spent a good half hour reading scriptures with them and talking to them about Jesus Christ, with visual aides and everything. Right before our closing prayer I asked, “so what is Easter about?”

Hyrum replied, “A bunny that lays eggs??”

Me and Ryan: *face palm*

I told Cora one morning that I had a song stuck in my head. She grabbed my head and started looking at it all over, trying to find where it was stuck!

My little girl is already such a dancer! From her Barbie Nutcracker movie and Angeline Ballerina TV shows, she has learned to do an eleve passe and an arabesque with a penche all on her own. I’m so proud! And I can’t wait for her to start a real dance class!

Zane is kind of like a little monkey- he likes to grab his toys with his feet sometimes. He is also a rolling little baby! He rolls over either shoulder to his tummy every time we set him on his back anywhere.

Zane loves to sit in his Bumbo near Hyrum and Cora playing. He just loves to be near them and be a part of what they’re doing! He’s also started to stick out just the tip of his little tongue this month. He especially loves to do it when he’s smiling. It’s so cute!

I have such a girly girl, and I love it. She is also still our little cuddle bug. Most nap times she wants me to lay by her for a minute before she goes to sleep. So, I lay down next to her in her bed, she wraps her little arms around me and gets the biggest grin on her face while she squishes her little eyes closed. And those are some of the best moments of motherhood!

Hyrum and Cora were a part of the children’s chorus for the youth’s roadshow this month. They were part of the animals of Noah’s ark: Hyrum was a spider and Cora was a leopard. They sang “Build an Ark” and “The Rain Came Down.” They did great!
