After we were all moved out of our house in Tucson, we went on what we lovingly nicknamed, “The Road Trip of Death,” because it was almost 2 weeks of nearly constant driving with three little children, right after a move. We went from Tucson to Mesa to visit my parents for a few days, then later in the week we picked up from Ryan from the airport (he had driven our U-Haul to Omaha and closed on our house), and drove to Carlsbad, CA!
We dropped our stuff off at our hotel, then went straight to the beach to try to be able to play there a little before the sun set. We had a great time!
Zane didn’t like the water or the sand, so he mostly sat with me on the towel on the beach. Hyrum liked the water though!
Cora didn’t like the water touching her (it was kind of cold), but she loved the sand!
The kids and Ryan built a sand castle, and I wrote their names in the sand:
It was such a relaxing and awesome evening! I was really glad we were able to make it happen, because we almost turned around on our drive there since the A/C on my car went out for a very hot part of our drive.
The next day we went to Legoland!
This ride had the longest line ever! But the kids still thought it was fun:
The kids got to drive their own cars! Cora had a pretty tough time, and Hyrum got stuck, but they both had fun.
We had hot dogs and chips for lunch:
Hyrum’s favorite part was meeting Emmett. He really wanted to meet other characters, but there really weren’t any others to meet.
We got soaked on this pirate ride!
We went on this storybook canal boat ride a few times in a row (there was no one in line) and the kids thought that was awesome!
The next day we stopped at the Jelly Belly Factory on our way up through CA. It was fun, but the factory smelled gross since they were making dog food, and Ryan was feeling pretty sick…
