Colorado Trip 2020- Part 2

Our second day in Colorado Springs started bright and early at the hotel. Ivy was refusing to get her hair done, so Ryan volunteered to have his done if Ivy also got pigtails. Here was the result:

It was covered by his hat most of the time, but occasionally he would take it off and it made the people around us chuckle.

We went bright and early to the Garden of Gods, we thought we got there right when it opened, but we must not have seeing all the people who were already out hiking around!

It was a beautiful and cool place to see, all those rocks just jutting out of the ground in different formations. The kids loved it too, mostly because they loved climbing everything.

While we were driving away from Garden of the Gods, we saw Balanced Rock and decided to stop and check it out real quick:

Our next stop in Colorado Springs was the Manitou Cave Dwellings. They are relocated cave dwellings of ancient date, but they've been refurbished a bit so you can climb all inside and over them. It's amazing they lived in a place so small!

They had some teepees:

And the actual cave dwellings:

After some food, we went to see a nearby waterfall (I think it was Helen Hunt falls). However. it started pouring rain again right when we got there! So, we only hiked up that tiny first part of the trail and then headed back to Denver area for the night.

The next morning we left for the final leg of our trip to our new home in Utah! We got stopped on the way in Glenwood Springs, having to deal with issues on the closing of our house and needing to be somewhere with good cell phone service, so we spent a few hours there. At least it was a beautiful place to stop! We had a picnic lunch and the kids played in a river nearby:

And of course, we had to get some ice cream!

We made it to our new state safely that night, but we were so glad we could have a little summer trip along the way. Colorado is a beautiful and fun place!
